I was shocked to discover that my thyroid cancer had extensive lymph node involvement. (I am 27 and this was my first major surgery.) Dr Albuja-Cruz constantly exuded confidence, kindness and complete honesty. She was upfront about the risks of the surgery and spelled everything out clearly in the pre-op and post-op, now my family and I have come away “experts” in thyroid cancer. Professor Albuja-Cruz performed the six-hour near total thyroidectomy + left radical (functional) lateral neck dissection + central neck dissection perfectly, and even managed to find and replant all three of the parathyroids that attempted to jump ship during the operation. During the nights I spent in the hospital to have my calcium levels monitored, Dr. Albuja-Cruz visited me often to check up on how I was doing, and closely monitored by bloodwork in the post-surgery weeks. She answered my many messages promptly and her expertise provided much-needed comfort before and after the ordeal. Dr Albuja’s… precision in the OR is truly unparalleled, and she is highly respected by her peers and students alike. Thank you, Dr. Albuja-Cruz! I owe you my life!

Dr. Albuja-Cruz is amazing, as well as her surgical team! I truly believe she/they saved my life after being diagnosed with Stage III Medullary Thyroid Cancer. I had a very complicated and risky surgery that lasted 12 hours. I came out of it with flying colors. Dr. Abuja Cruz recently treated me for a parathyroid adenoma. Her compassion and professionalism pre and post op was above the best. Everything was explained in great detail, she really took time to make sure my husband and I understood. Every person in the pre op and post op and on the floors seem to really respect her. Dr. Cruz is quite possibly the most thorough, attentive, caring doctor I've ever delt with. I had a very rare adrenal tumor (pheochromocytoma) and went to Dr. Cruz not knowing anything. She diagnosed quickly and thoroughly the condition with only knowledgeable that a tumour was present. She spent so many hours in the 10+ office visits prior to my surgery and never made me feel rushed. She took what was the most stressful and terrifying thing that ever happened to me and made it into something that we beat together. She spent 8 hours in surgery removing the tumor and I owe her my life. After the surgery she still contacted me for weeks to male sure I was all right. She is an amazimg doctor, but more importantly, an amazing person. I recommend her in every possible aspect that you can recommend a doctor.
