Dr. Maria Barretta

Passionate about catering the best support to each individual, Maria is dedicated to staying at the forefront of education in the constantly developing field of mental health. Maria started her career started in early childhood education, where her passion for working with children and their families directed her to grow expertise in additional areas by pursuing the Oakland University Counseling Master of Counseling program. As a counselor for the incarcerated population working for the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, she was an acting subject matter expert for violence, substance abuse, impulse control, depressive and suicidal ideation, and schizoaffective disorders. When not providing therapeutic care, Maria has spent time volunteering in mentoring at-risk youth and has engaged in various community outreach initiatives. Maria also has a comprehensive background in alternative therapy modalities, motivational coaching, and mindfulness. Sensitive to her clientele's backgrounds …and beliefs, esoterically spiritual and holistic approaches to therapy are also available. Maria completed her Bachelor's in Psychology from UC Davis and her Master's in Counseling from Oakland University, and she likewise has a background in early childhood education. Curiosity and a constant search for further information have taken Maria around the world to complete various therapy and healing modalities ranging from PSYCH-K to the Tony Robbins Mastery University. Maria is committed to learning and providing the best knowledge and options for mental health treatment to fit each individual. Maria is an expert in leveraging her diverse skills when developing powerful custom therapy sessions for each client's unique mental health needs, she can assist you in receiving care by approaching any concern from a variety of perspectives.
