Dr. Maria Bell, MD

Four years ago, I was a seventy-year-old rural farmwife diagnosed with ovarian cancer recommended for a consultation for surgery with Dr. Bell. I found she and her staff to all be concerned to answer my questions and inform me of all procedures, with honest answers and experienced professional. skillful surgeon in the successful outcome of my surgery as well as she and a panel of other doctors' recommended follow-up treatments that were administered at my local Sanford hospital. Since the end of of that year, I have remained cancer free and very thankful to Dr. Bell and all others who have given me more healthy active years of life than I would have had. Tess Zetterlund

Wished I would have researched this "?" before she convinced my mom and family into a surgery that was supposed to remove an abdominal tumor and, according to Bell; "because of my mom's spunkiness," see her on a quick road to recovery. After an extended surgery where her and robot punctured my mom's colon, leaving her with a colostomy bag and a patchwork of sewn up incisions, she was left in ICU in excruciating pain for nigh 2 weeks with a nonfunctioning digestive system. After leaving Bell's reckless care for a third party's opinion, we were told, my mom still has a huge tumor left right where it was from the start? This so called, doctor, told us to our face, "she removed ALL the cancer?" Don't let this woman, (or any of her dedicated fans; ie, professional colleagues) convince you she's some sort of expert? She loves attempting to bolster her worthiness to people by boasting of her ability to perform "robotic" surgery. Clearly after much research on Bell, I find my mom isn't' the… only trusting victim she's left behind. So it's time for caring, honest Doctors from where ever she sets up her robotif shop of horrors, to tell her to pack up her nintendo toys and let ethical experts decide what should be hacked out of unsuspecting, trusting patients who deserve nothing less. You'll be safer in the hands of your local veterinarian.

I will never go back to see her again. She does not listen to what the patient is saying, and brushed off any of my concerns. She also felt the need to blame some of my symptoms on another illness that I have that was proven to be false by that specialist before I met with her. For supposedly being one of the best in the country, I wouldn’t trust her one bit.

Dr. BELL SAVED MY LIFE. She is an intelligent doctor and I trusted her. Thank goodness she was my doctor. I did a treatment that some doctors wouldn't do.

Dr. Bell and her staff are great. Very caring and professional. She saved my life. I would recommend her.

Dr. Bell was forthright and very clear on my diagnosis. Dr. Bell laid out a plan of action and never sugarcoated anything for me. I appreciated her honesty and exepertise. After my surgery Dr. Bell came to see me the days that she did not have surgery. One of her colleagues checked on me on those days. There is never a day that goes by that I do not thank Dr. Ratino and God in my prayers for Dr. Maria Bell and her talents as a physician.

Dr. Bell does not have a warm bedside manner. I always felt rushed. I can handle directness, but her response to my inquiry about possible allergic reactions to chemotherapy ("I've seen people code in the chair") was not a good one.

Dr. Bell's care of my niece was fabulous. Her skill as a surgeon attacked the problem, but saved my niece's ability to have children - and allowed her to get back to her normal life much faster than we dreamed. She trusts Dr. Bell to give her the facts, not sugar-coated, but laying out the choices and likely results of each choice. We are grateful for her care.

I trust Dr. Bell ~ she is a busy woman and doesn't waste time chit chatting until she has a real reason or diagnosis...she gets to the point...she is professional is all... I feel bad about the above comments regarding her..
