Dr. Maria Manuela Da Costa, MD

I have never met a doctor with such bad bedside manner. She is rude and judgmental and has the worst attitude.

I found her to be judgmental and a short fuse. When I mentioned a medication that while not mainstream was rx'd by a MD through a conventional pharmacy, she misunderstood what it was and asked me if I was a "junky" (her words). I've never once used an illicit substance and the med I was taking was not at all something that had potential for abuse. She may have been confusing it with something with a similar sounding name. I appreciate honesty but her judgments were off-base and made with insufficient knowledge. There were some other red flags including bad mouthing her other patients that sent me practically running for the door. Hopefully I just caught her on a bad day but this was clearly not a good match.

I have been seeing Dr. Da Costa for two plus years and have found her to be incredibly helpful. She is straight forward and honest so for some that is hard, but I prefer it. I don't need to be handled, I need help which she provides and I trust her knowledge of available treatments.

If you or your loved one is at risk for substance abuse, DO NOT go to this Doctor. She clearly has no idea what she is doing

Too many problems to list. Was rude and dare to raise her voice! I'll talk to my attorney and complain to Department of Public Health.

I never had the displeasure of meeting this woman. She was so cold and rude to me on the phone that I didn’t even bother making an appointment.

I was a patient for over 5 yrs with Dr. Da Costa. I found her to be kind, compassionate and understanding. After a 2 yr depression with another doctor, she was able to make me well again in a very short time with her medical treatment. She changed the course of my life and I am extremely happy and grateful to her.

Dr. DaCosta has a private private after 4 pm as adjunct to her job at an addiction clinic at another location. Her manner is scripted and impersonal, and routinely asks basic questions....are you sleeping, eating?, etc. She does not welcome questioning about her prescribed medications and expresses annoyance if that occurs. Dr. DaCosta uses an answering service to take all calls. Her private practice is secondary to her daytime work and she appears tired, listens but is not conversant. One clearly gets the impression that her heart is in financial profit not empathetic patient care.
