Dr. Maria Claire Demosthenous, DO

My son (who is in college) has been seeing her for over a year and it has been great. She explains everything in a manner that is easily understood and gives great feedback.

We saw Dr D April 14, 2017. She diagnosed my daughter with ADHD. She said is was on the low end and that in high school she was able to cope with it. Now having entering College she was struggling. She said that she could offer Straterra for her, but what she really wanted was to send my daughter to an Educational Therapist. So we agreed and since going to the therapist she is still struggling and she called and asked to be put on the Straterra. Dr D has not returned her call. Now she has gone to new family Dr and she'll called to have the diagnosis sent over to the Dr and again she is not returning her call. We had to pay out of pocket for this appt. I also sent a records request and she is not sending records either. It's just so frustrating. I truly need help and she's ignoring my requests. Such poor doctoring. I will never go back to her or ever recommend her to any body.

I've been through two other psychiatrists--the first, awful, the second, eh. I kept the second for awhile because I thought, well she's better than the first. Meeting with Dr. Demosthenous made me realize that there is no reason that should cause me to go on with a sub-par and impersonal psychiatrist. I used to see her twice a week during my IOP treatment, and now I see her once a month for about 30 minutes. We have some really good conversations and she explains the reasoning behind her diagnosis and the background of the disorders I have, which makes them seem much more manageable just with definition. I recommend a sit-down with her if she has time and if you are looking not just for a psychiatrist, but to build a solid support system, of which she is part of mine.
