Dr. Maria Lourdes Orozco-Valeriano, DC

Early Life and Community Roots

Dr. Maria L. Orozco, D.C., was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, in the Little Village community, the city’s largest Hispanic neighborhood. From an early age, she was actively involved in church events and sports groups. As a teenager, she mentored local youth, took on leadership roles in sports activities, and participated in a variety of school organizations throughout her high school years.

Academic and Clinical Experience

Dr. Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from Loyola University and later completed a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. She then attended the National University of Health Sciences, where she mentored new students and served as a teacher’s assistant. During her training, she also gained valuable clinical experience working with patients in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and in HIV-positive care settings, both of which were especially meaningful and impactful.

Leadership and Community Service

Beyond her …studies, Dr. Maria remained deeply committed to service and leadership. In 2003, she joined the NUHS Alumni Association Board of Directors and also served on the Board of Trustees for the National University of Health Sciences. She contributed to her community through roles with House of Refuge and the pastoral council of Holy Cross Catholic Church, reflecting her dedication to building strong and supportive relationships.

Family Wellness and Conditions Treated

After graduating in 1999, Dr. Maria opened a Family Chiropractic Center near Midway Airport in Chicago in 2000. She also continued supporting NUHS by visiting local high schools and grammar schools to share information about chiropractic care and spinal health. In 2005, she relocated to Arizona with her husband and founded a Family Wellness Center focused on helping people recognize stressors, understand the root causes of their health concerns, and make positive lifestyle changes to take control of their well-being.
