Dr. Maria Michelle Otoole, MD

Dr. Otoole delivered my baby 20 years ago. She is an amazing person and I highly recommend her to anyone. My daughter will be going to her.

Left practice without notifying patients... I have no way to get my records

Does anyone know what records storage company Dr. O'Toole sent her patients' records to?

I have experience with few other OB GYNs before meeting DR Otool. Among all other OB GYNs, I would say Otool is the best. I had a C Section for my first baby....at that time...Doctor said..pelvic area is very narrow and chances of vaginal delivery is impossible. That was from different state and then we moved to Rhode Island and finally found this doctor after lot of research. She spends enough time and answers all questions and mine was an emergency labor and she was on time. Our experience is very happy. As long as I am in Rhode Island...she will be my OBGYN.

Overall my experience with Dr O'Toole and her staff was very disappointing. She is incredibly rude with little bedside manner. I was nearly 7 months pregnant and had an issue with my hip that was severe enough that I could hardly walk. When I asked if she could write me a note so that I could take an early leave from work her response was, and I quote- if I wrote permission for my patients to stop working during their pregnancies everyone would be at home with their feet up 2 months along. I have a patient who is an OR nurse and worked up until 2 weeks before her due date lifting 200+ pound patients. I doubt you're lifting 200+ patients at your job.- unbelievable! Needless to say I switched right away. When it came time to transferring my records, I got into a hollering match with one of the receptionists over the phone because "this is a very busy office" I would NEVER recommend this MD to anyone!

Firstly, staff is incredibly rude. If you visit the office and stand by the window, they will not acknowledge you. If you ask for ANYTHING (me - to move an appointment up to accommodate an unexpected trip), they will sigh and act like it is the biggest inconvenience they have ever encountered. Also, the office takes your insurance information every time you go in for a visit. However, when I went, they took my PAP, sent it to the hospital and then 6 months later, told the hospital to bill me (full price) for the test because they couldn't find my insurance information. I would have appreciated a phone call asking for the information, considering I give the same information every time I go in for a visit. Instead, I spent an hour on the phone (partially waiting to get through to O'Toole's office because the line was busy) sorting it out myself. Also, Dr. O'Toole is incredibly inattentive. During my 10 minute check up, she told me three times that she delivered a baby the night before… and was tired. So tired, apparently, that she couldn't remember what she said two minutes ago. Needless to say, I will be searching for another doctor who will be aware enough to ask me about my health rather than talk about her nightlife during my annual 10 minute exam (10 MINUTES - I mean, COME ON!).

Overall, Dr. O'Toole is a good doctor. She is a very caring doctor although sometimes you have a long wait because she is running behind schedule usually due to a patient having an emergency situation. She will take the time to listen to your concerns and discuss them with you. Her office staff could use a little improvement in passing along a message to her and giving a return call as they often promise but fail to do. This is my only problem with this office. Very frustrating!
