Dr. Maria Sandra Scurria, MD

I tried to make an appointment with this doctor today, as a new patient. I have great insurance and the secretary said they take it. She also said every new patient is required to enroll in a "special program" that you have to pay around $125/mth (over $1K) a year. I asked if they also charge my insurance in addition to this charge and they said yes. She said I get appointments within 2 days and I can have the cell phone number directly to the doctor. I have never come across ANY doctors requiring this and am very surprised. The secretary I spoke with said it's a trend a lot of doctors are moving to now. She went on to say there are about 40 doctors participating in this program statewide. In my mind, that is not very many and I am regretful I found one of the 40. Needless to say, I don't want an appointment with an opportunist doctor trying to squeeze even more money out of people. I pay a premium for my insurance and don't expect to be required to pay more for timely appointments or… good service. This is a travesty that this is actually a trend happening. I highly recommend you find another doctor and hopefully, they will not be one of the few idiots participating in this program.

If you sick and you need help ...DO NOT call Dr Scurria! All she interested is money...Not helping people who sick. I call to set appointment and...find out I have to first pay ~$2000/yr to be part of her limited MDVIP patient base. Thank you, doctor.

I've been a patient of Dr. Scurria's for 15 years and really liked her. However, I will now have to find another doctor because I am not interested in paying ~$2000/yr to be part of her new, limited MDVIP patient base. I guess the wait times will be less at her office now! It must be nice to limit your patients based on their ability to pay for unneeded services. It looks to me like this is a way to continue making money in semi-retirement!!!

Dr. Scurria is very attentive to your health and covers all the bases in her diagnosis. Makes you feel like you know her forever and gives that confidence that you can tell her anything and she will understand, professionally. Great Doctor!!!!

Sadly, after changing Medicare Advantage companies, Dr. Scurria was NOT in the lists of doctors from which to choose a PCP. However, I would like to say in the many years of going to her, one could NOT wish for, or find a more intelligent, and caring doctor! New patients, you are going to be pleasantly surprised! P.S. This web site doesn't show her present address, which is on Loop 610 West.

I've used Dr. Scurria for 16 years. Since she moved to Bellaire, the service is better, faster, and more efficient. She is the consumate physician. She cares about her patients. Her P. A.'s are good, but I like to see her...it's worth the wait!
