Dr. Maria Valeria Simone, MD

I am a 72 year-old male. I have only good things to report regarding Dr. Simone. Her office staff was competent and cordial. Minimal wait time after arriving for my appointments. She listened intently, evaluated my condition and scheduled my hernia surgery within a week, as I was wanting it done ASAP. There were no surprises or disappointments. My recovery was remarkably easy, which I attribute to her surgical competence and instructions. I would most certainly recommend her to family, friends or anyone needing general surgery.

I don't usually write reviews, however after reading a poor review I just have to. In 2015 I was transferred from one hospital to NY presbytarian hospital on life support, close to losing my life. I was 42 at the time. I had multi organ failure and was deteriorating very quickly. Dr. Simone was the surgeon there when I needed emergency surgery to repair a perforated bowel that caused severe septic shock. As the poor reviewer wrote, I woke up a few weeks later with an open abdomen, ileostomy bag, wound vac to my abdomen, urinary cath and drain from my spleen. These are the things that SAVED MY LIFE. DR. SIMONE FOUND THE PERFORATION AND SAVED MY LIFE. So to the one person who wrote a poor review I say this... although you had a difficult time, I get it , so did I . I was hospitalized for 2 months. Out of work for 6 months. However if it weren't for Dr. Simone and all those "horrible" procedures, I would not be here to raise my two boys. Thank you Dr. Simone. I am forever grateful. To all… of you in Texas, you got yourself an amazing , talented , compassionate surgeon who in concerned about her patients and knows what she is doing.

Dr Simone spoke with confidence and authority about my surgery. I had no doubt she knew what needed to happen and her suggestions on location of surgery and procedure showed me that my well being was the only goal. Hope I dont need surgery again but if I do, I know who I'm going to call. 5 stars no doubt.

I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. Dr. Simone is very knowledgeable and compassionate. During my consultation I felt like I was going to pass out and Dr. Simone sat with me and held my hand for over 30 minutes. Dr. Simone puts her patients first and her office is just as phenomenal, compassionate, carrying, and patient as Dr. Simone. If I ever need surgery again, (hopefully not) Dr. Simone is my surgeon!

Dr. Simone is a compassionate & talented MD. I feel fortunate to have had her perform my recent surgery and would recommend her without reservation.

I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon in the midst of needing emergency surgery. Very knowledgeable, compassionate, direct, not in a hurry to answer questions but not delaying the need to get things done. And her office is just as phenomenal, compassionate, carrying, patient, willing to take all the time needed to answer all my questions. If I ever need surgery again, she's my surgeon!

Dr. Simone operated on me for a peristomal hernia blockage on Christmas Day 2012. She repaired the blockage, closed the colostomy, removed my appendix, and gave me a temporary ileostomy. What wonderful Christmas presents! It was the worst surgery of my life! She reopened an old midline incision to perform this work; her staff removed the staples prematurely and I had a "vac" attached to me for three months. The incision took 6 months to heal; I lost 30 lbs in a week; my kidneys were damaged; I could not get out of bed for three months; my appetitie was non-existent during that period; and my total recovery took six months. To add insult to injury, it was IMPOSSIBLE to reach her despite multiple calls to her office in emergency. She never called back and her office phone answered with a fax machine multiple times. Complaints to the hospital administration were fruitless. She is really a "mom" doctor. Her personal life comes first and you as the patient maybe last. I wouldn't… recommend anyone consider her for anything. Worst doctor I have ever met and had the displeasure of having been operated on. It was bad luck on X-mas Day that she was "on-call" and I was the unfortunate patient with an obstruction.

She has a pleasant bedside manner-but she was too anxious to gut me!
