Dr. Maria Skamagas, MD

Dr. Maria Skamagas has been my diabetes doctor for the last 5 years. She is extremely professional. She listens to my concerns and always takes time to help me with my health issues. I can’t speak more highly of her. I trust her with my life. So grateful for her.

Prescribed wrong medication that resulted in terrible complications. She then chose to decline to communicate with my other physicians when they wanted to discuss some of these results with her. When I returned for a follow-up visit (which I shouldn't have had after the fact!!), I was informed by her assistant (a wonderfully courteous and capable college student whom I had had the pleasure of having occasional conversations during prior visits) that she would *not* be seeing me on this particular day despite my having waited a long time in her office. (I also recall how blunt and dismissive the receptionist was during this long wait when I happened to ask her a couple of insurance-related questions.) This was an appointment that was scheduled prior to this follow-up visit -- and shamefully, on MyChart, the office apparently had the nerve to record it as a "missed appointment." REALLY??!!

Been feeling bad my doc said a lot of it has to do with my hormones but instead I was told to have my other doctor switch the meds,2 of my docs knew it was high so I don’t know why I wasn’t rechecked when I feel like complete crap,every time I think a doctor is going to help I just get told to see another doctor they can deal with it or try something I’ve already tried and come back in 6 weeks,anyone else have extreme trouble finding out what’s wrong with them? Now I have to see another doctor to try to help me with my hormone issues I don’t understand why I even bothered going if that’s the case,another waste of an appt,I have multiple issues and I’m in a bad place mentally because of physical issues that no doc wants to help me with,I guess I’m going to have to demand help because my life has sucked for years now,I have no life,I just wanna get better,it sucks so bad,don’t know what to do maybe I need to bring people with me from now on so I’m taken seriously&don’t have to be like… this yet again another year

I first saw Dr. Skamagas for a consult regarding a possible case of parathyroid disease. She reviewed my lab work, sent me for a couple more tests and recommended a surgeon. I saw her once more to review findings prior to surgery. Not only was she kind and efficient during both visits - but she was there in the recovery room (on her own accord) after my surgery. Two years later, when I went to see her for another issue, she was incredibly warm, remembered everything about me - and focused not only on the medical issue but on me as a whole person. She's a wonderful doctor.
