Dr. Maria Victoria Vargas, MD

I have had no complaints over my experience since getting excision surgery with Dr. Victoria Vargas in January 2024. After a total of seven years of suffering disabling pain with my cycle between the ages of 13-20 without any healthcare professional believing what I was experiencing was an inflammatory disease and not regular menstrual pain, ultrasounds showing nothing diagnostic, Dr. Vargas was the first person who without a second thought acknowledged that what I was experiencing sounded like endometriosis. A year and a half later, I received my one and only excision surgery, and she found and removed stage II uterosacral ligament endometriosis. Her kindness and compassionate attitude toward the pain I had endured was truly what mattered even beyond the procedure itself, because it was her heart’s desire to truly help improve my quality of life after suffering for so long that was the reason she took the length of time necessary to find and excise all the endometriosis. I have never… experienced the 9-10/10 pain in my body that would keep me bedridden for hours prior to surgery in the now almost two years (as of next month) since getting excision surgery with Dr. Vargas. The bedside manner of not just her, but all the nurses and healthcare professionals who worked with her when I was her patient left nothing to complain about. It was a peaceful, hope-reviving, healing experience from beginning to end. Thank you, Dr. Vargas, for the role you played in truly changing my whole life for the better and giving me my health and ability to live in my body and go about my life not only without chronic pain, but also without worrying about it back.

Dr. Vargas is incredibly competent as a provider and surgeon, but what is incredible is that she is a wonderful person as well. She was very patient with my concerns and continuous questions. She was supportive of me getting a second opinion and always made me feel like my health was her top priority. I have struggled with endometriosis for over a decade and after having surgery with Dr. Vargas, I feel like a completely different person. She is an advocate for women and an expert in her field. I strongly recommend her to anyone considering surgery or in need of care.

Dr. Vargas is an amazing surgeon and equally a great person. She has a very down to earth bedside manner, she is very thorough and knowledgeable. This was my first major surgery and from the time I met her and throughout she made the experience very pleasant and prepared me through the whole process. She is very responsive to emails, calls and such. I just completed my follow up to surgery today and like always she made the procedure a breeze to get though. She keeps it very honest and real with her patients and i love that! She came highly recommended and i am so glad she was my surgeon.

I went to Dr. Vargas for my endometriosis care. I looked for doctor after doctor before I found her and I'm so grateful I did. She's patient, kind, and really takes the time to explain the Ins and Outs of the disorder. Dr. Vargas is not only a skilled surgeon with my robotic assisted laparoscopic excision surgery, she has excellent bed side manner and is accessible and responds quickly. I came to Dr. Vargas after over a decade of being in and out of OBGYNs that I did not feel listened to for the exorbitant amount of pain for my periods, only to find out that I have endometriosis. Truly, I can't recommend her enough! She is compassionate, patient, reliable and extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Vargas took the time to go over my options, reviewed my MRIs and post-op images with me, and responded quickly to all my correspondence. She also made sure that I had all the paperwork and reports needed, without having to ask. Dealing with the GW hospital was a stressor in and of itself, but it in no way impacts the care that Dr. Vargas gave. She is with you every step of the way, sharing what to expect and gave the most helpful advice to make everything go as smooth as possible. I have not had the pleasure of meeting a doctor that actually made me feel like I mattered and honestly cared about my opinion, and for that, I will follow wherever Dr. Vargas goes. Thank you!!

I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Vargas, I was admitted to GW hospital for an issue I had with my reproductive system. It was a very traumatic experience which resulted in me having surgery. I was very scared and Dr. Vargas was there every step of the way. She made sure I was well informed about my diagnosis and eventually the surgery I ended up having. She even checked on my after hours. I am so happy with her care that I even switched over to her as my primary GYN physician. I am very critical of the care that I receive and I can assure you that you will be well taken care of by Dr. Vargas, I can not say enough about how she was there for me. I am so lucky that she was part of my care. During office visits, she answers all of my questions and I never feel rushed. You would be so lucky to have her as your doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vargas for several years. She has treated me for a series of issues including fibroids and irregular bleeding. Dr. Vargas is a leading expert in her field and it shows in how she cares for her patients. She explained everything clearly and patiently. She took care of issues that half a dozen other Doctors had dismissed and she did it with the upmost respect and genuine desire to improve my quality of life. I highly recommend Dr. Vargas to any patients in the Washington DC Metro Area.

Dr Vargas was one of the first doctors to recognize I had endometriosis. She failed to mention that I could also have adenomyosis and pelvic floor dysfunction, which I later discovered were also at the root of my pain. I also felt very rushed in every appointment, like she was frustrated if I asked a question, and really needed a more supportive doctor when my came to diagnosing and treating a major chronic pain disease. After seeing her, I ended up having a second surgery with an expert in this field who was much better equipped. GW is awful to deal with, there is neglect in the hospital, and I would avoid.

When I say this Dr. is the best I mean it. She explained everything about my condition and treatment so that I was comfortable and understood what I was facing.

I have NEVER felt so comfortable with a GYN doctor. Dr. Vargas made every visit personal. I was dealing with a highly emotional situation and she made me comfortable every step of the way. It’s been an extremely long time for me to have a Doctor which I hold with such high regard. Aside from her making me comfortable and being compassionate, she’s an amazing clinician! That’s rare, normally you sacrifice one for the other. Dr. Vargas exceeded my expectations. She’s knowledgeable, thorough and professional!
