Dr. Marianne Gay Rochester, MD

You are the company you keep, or in this case, your staff is a reflection of you. Dr. Marianne Rochester, that reflection is not pretty! I have worked in the healthcare field. I understand the process. I know what it's like to be on both sides and I expect customer service and some compassion when dealing with healthcare "professionals". That is not at all what I received when I contacted Dr. Rochester's office. Yvette answered my call to schedule my first appointment. I explained why I was calling and gave her my name. She put me on hold, then came back on and asked my name again. (* Here's a tip, Yvette, write it down. Then you don't have to ask again. :) I'm always amazed at how poorly people perform their jobs.) She put me on hold again, then came back and said she would need my referral (only the way she put it was not as pleasant). The office had not yet received it. I was told the first available appointment -lag time- was over 30 days out. Protocol...I call it denying my… access to healthcare. Ridiculous. I asked to speak with the office manager who just repeated exactly what Yvette had said with the tact of a bulldog. She said people make appointments all the time and have no idea why they are there, thus the need for the referral. Really? People schedule appointments with a urologist and have no idea why they are there? * Note to prospective patients: write it down, then you won't be asking yourself why you are at a urologist! I tried to explain that I have been waiting for this referral for some time. That I knew why I was being referred and I would ensure that they had the referral within the next 24 hours. Surely, the 30 days between now and the next available appointment seemed like ample time to get that done! I had already called my doctor's office & requested they send it over, which I was told would be done immediately. Still, no appointment. No compassion, just the bulldog. If I had made no mention of insurance I would have an appointment. I asked to leave a message for the doctor. She said I could leave a message but the doctor would not call me back because I was not a patient of hers. Unbelievable. At one point, she called me MOM! Great job, multitasking was her excuse and I'm sure she is old enough to be my mother. I'd love the chance to speak with the doctor but at this point, I have no faith in her skills as a physician, her bedside manner, or her business skills. Highly recommend you try another office.

She's great! I have a rare problem with my urinary tract, and she is the only urologist I have encountered that seems to understand it.
