Dr. Marie Lynn Crandall, MD

I walked into the ER and was assigned Dr.Marie Crandall to perform surgery, I hadn’t sought her out. While performing bowel surgery, she mistakenly cut into different areas of my bowel causing me to vomit huge amts of liquid stool after surgery, I was in poor condition, it quickly became an emergency and the rapid response team was called. I suffered peritonitis and an open incision which oozed pus for a year, requiring constant dressing changes. During the same surgery she mistakenly cut into my vagina and bladder causing me to suffer bowel and bladder fistulas which painfully caused stool to seep through both my bladder and vagina from my bowel. I was in extreme pain through all of this. A year later because of her many errors, it took three teams of surgeons at Loyola University Hospital to save my life, I’m very grateful for these doctors. Although I’m better, I still suffer because of her mistakes, however, I feel I’m lucky to be alive. There are times when I think, if only she… hadn’t been assigned to me on that fateful day of my surgery.
