Dr. Marilyn Johnston Amis, MD

Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and patients, and look forward to caring for your children.

Biography
I never thought I would be living in Southern California when I was growing up in Oregon but now I can't imagine a better place to live. My husband and I moved here in 1984 from Madison, Wisconsin where I did my first two years of medical school at the University of Wisconsin. In the free time I have, I love to read (I belong to two book clubs) and take long walks with my daughter. I recently joined the board of the Valley Community Clinic and am looking forward to helping them expand their pediatric and adolescent program.

About my practice
I love being a pediatrician because it allows me to be a part of a family's life as they watch their children grow. Providing guidance for behavior issues is just as …important as taking care of the medical problems. I try to contribute in whatever way possible to my patient's reaching their full potential. It is very satisfying now when my former patients ask me to be their children's pediatrician.

How I thrive
I know how important it is to take care of myself in order for me to do my job well. I love the outdoors and take long walks almost every day. I also enjoy reading and am usually reading several books at one time.
