Dr. Marina Frimer, MD

Marina Frimer, MD, is a gynecological oncologist at Northwell Health Physician Partners Gynecologic Oncology at New Hyde Park. She is also associate chief of Research and Academic Development for Northwell facilities across central Long Island and Queens. She treats the full spectrum of gynecologic cancers, including complex gynecologic surgery.
“I’ve always wanted to help people,” says Dr. Frimer of her decision to become a doctor. “I think women's cancers are very much underrepresented and understudied. I really felt passionate about changing that.”
Dr. Frimer completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Her surgical training was largely focused on cancer and robotic surgery.
She joined Northwell Health in 2016, and works alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in radiation oncology, medical oncology, radiology, pathology and cancer genetics. Dr. …Frimer takes the time to carefully explain this multifaceted care to her patients, who appreciate her warmth, compassion and attentiveness. “It’s important to understand what the patients are going through,” she says. “I’m here to listen and answer any questions they have.”
With a focus on endometrial cancer, Dr. Frimer is involved in clinical and translational research in collaboration with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, where she is also an associate investigator for the Karches Center for Oncology. She is an associate professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. In addition, she’s a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the American College of Surgeons and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Frimer has always made it her mission to make every patient’s care as seamless and comfortable as possible. “My goal is to be able to do everything at once—oncologic surgery and chemotherapy—and follow the patient through recovery,” she says. “And see them get back to living their lives.”
