Dr. Marina Makous, MD

I have known Dr. Makous for many years. She is a wonderful, caring and compassionate person. Her knowledge on Lyme Disease, it's co-infections and how to treat this horrible disease has given me my life back. She takes time to listen to your concerns and is genuine about wanting to help you get better. She also continues to learn more about the disease by attending conferences and educational seminars. As new ways become available on treatment, I feel blessed to have a physician who is willing to continue gain more knowledge on treatment options and bring that knowledge to her patients. She truly has a caring heart and a wonderful bedside manner. I would recommend anyone who has sought out treatment for their illness to consider seeing Dr. Makous. She just might be the answer to your prayers!

I saw several LLMD (Lyme literate doctors) before I had the good fortune to find Dr. Makous. My previous doctors kept giving me more and more antibiotics which made me ill. When I saw Dr. Makous, she was very focused and thorough, she checked my records and tests, and asked about my many symptoms. She explained to me why the antibiotics may not work after months and years of treating Lyme. I understood for the first time what happens with the nervous system and the immune system after Lyme infection, and how important it is to rehabilitate them after the antibiotics. I am happy to say that within 3 months of seeing Dr. Makous my sleep is the best I’ve had for many years, my pain is much improved, and I am back to work part time. I even started a gentle exercise program again to build back my strength. Dr. Makous is very kind and compassionate, and I am very grateful to be in her care.

She is a tick bourne illness expert. I had four different infections confirmed from one tick bite and she took me from essentially being bed ridden to living a normal life in only a few months. She is also very caring and understanding of you as a patient.
