Dr. Mario Alfredo Silva JR., MD

My husband has dementia and Dr. Silva and his staff are unwilling to work with me to manage his care. I love the way they treat him as an independent individual, but the sad reality is that when they schedule appointments and reschedule them directly with him, the information is not understood and he cannot pass the information to me - his sole caregiver - accurately. This leads to missed appointments, prescription refills, and lots of frustration as I want to respect their practice, but also need to be respected as his caregiver. After a year of this, I've decided to seek another physician for my husband. This change is not optimal; any change is hard for people with dementia, so it's a tough and sad decision to make and I'm sad that the physician and his staff have put our family in this situation.

I have had two - three years experience with Dr. Silva and am impressed with his judgement , his knowledge/ detailed knowledge about myself as his patient, his positive and helpful attitude and his follow up. I like that he is direct and doesn’t beat around the bush. He does this with an excellent bedside manner. I had to go through some difficult surgery and he was there at every turn. Can’t recommend this physician more positively. Queens is lucky to have him and we as patients are lucky to have him as a general practitioner.

When I first met Dr. Mario Silva. . .he was courteous; did not make me feel rushed; he always shakes my hand when he enters; he reviews my blood test with me with patience and explains what I don't understand. Dr. Silva gives me options. . .and he listens. The only negative comment that I have right now is... two of my appointments had to be rescheduled.
