Marissa N. Petersen-Coleman

I specialize in posttraumatic adjustment, families in transition, women's issues, maternal mental health and survivors of childhood abuse. My research interests include health disparities in communities of color, international psychology and human rights and trauma recovery.I am passionate about health and healing and believe that the connection between mind, body and spirit is powerful. My multicultural background enables me to view challenges from multiple perspectives and honor the cultures of each individual and family I work with. I view it as a privilege to be invited into patients' lives as they share their narratives.I work with individuals from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds. I believe all people, regardless of age, have an innate capacity to grow, heal and change if they are provided a safe, supportive and encouraging environment. I listen for solutions while connecting the past to the present to achieve thorough healing.
