Maritza Manuela Calonga, MD

My WIFE is a patient of Dr. Calonga at the Long Beach VA, and Dr. Calonga is the kind of doctor you always want to have. She has the intellectual curiosity and the skills, but more importantly, she has the motivation to do as much as possible and then even more. Dr. Calonga goes the extra mile. Within the first five minutes, one gets the impression tha here is a doctor who actually treats her patients like a valued friend. Her bedside manner is wonderful, you can tell she cares a great deal. She is focused, she is careful, she is a complete and total professional and she takes great pride in her work. She is always eager to explore all avenues to greater health, and she is always ready to get to the core of a larger problem in order to arrive at solutions for secondary symptoms. She wants to treat the patient as both a whole and the sum of their parts. We are so grateful to have her.
