Dr. Gonzalgo performed my Radical Robotic Prostatectomy at the University of Miami Urology. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled in his craft. He and his staff were well-trained and responsive to all my questions and concerns. I was also very impressed with the University of Miami Health System overall, as I’ve always had great experiences there. I’m grateful to Dr. Gonzalgo for his quality patient care and the excellent outcome of my surgery.

After more than eight years with the University of Miami Health System, I’ve come to trust their care and referrals. One of the most important was for Dr. Mark Anthony Gonzalgo, my recommended surgeon by my longtime urologist; Dr Kava. I initially chose him based on that referral alone, not realizing he is Chairman of the Urology Dept at UM HS with over 25 years of experience and 1,000's of robotic prostatectomies performed. My surgery and overnight stay went exactly as described, with no complications and far less discomfort than expected. His surgical excellence spared all my nerve bundles providing for a more expeditious and thorough recovery. Most impressively, after my catheter was removed, I experienced no incontinence at all. Dear Dr.Gonzalgo, Just a short note to let you know that I believe that you have done an outstanding job. Since surgery three and a half weeks ago, I have not experienced any incontinence issues nor have I had a problem with erectile dysfunction. My physical therapist has mentioned that I do not have to see her anymore and that in her 27 years of specializing in the pelvic area that I hold the title of being number 1 patient with no side effects. Think you for performing the “nerve sparing procedure”. You were great! GG

I am extremely grateful to Dr. Gonzalgo and the entire team at the University of Miami. I had a cystectomy with neobladder performed about 11 weeks ago. I simply cannot overstate Dr. Gonzalgo’s technical skill in performing this complicated robotic surgery. I was walking 4 hours after waking up from anesthesia, and within about 6 weeks was back to my normal self in terms of energy, walking 5-7 miles a day. I had no complications, and the neobladder works perfectly. I can urinate either sitting or standing but it’s easier to fully empty the neobladder in the sitting position. However the ability to urinate standing is helpful when at a restaurant or bar. I have not needed to self catheterize to empty the neobladder. I have no leaking at all during the day, but do experience leaking at night which I control with pads in my underwear. I am hopeful this will diminish over time. Very importantly, I have retained sexual function and have no issues getting and maintaining an… erection. One of my fears when bladder removal was first discussed was that I would need an external bag for the rest of my life. As an active 58 year old, I really wanted to avoid that. I am so grateful that the neobladder procedure exists and that Dr. Gonzalgo is so skilled at performing it. I now have a new lease on life, am cancer free, and the impact on my life from the surgery is minimal and manageable. Thank you Dr. Gonzalgo and University of Miami Hospital. I owe this next chapter of my life to you.

Overall outstanding patient care. He establish a close and trusted relationship with his patients. He takes the time to listen to the patient and be sure to cover his needs.

Amazing Doctor/experience if you can believe this the only pain I had was from the incision. I would highly recommend Dr Gonzalgo. The U/M staff was outstanding keep up the good work God bless
