Dr. Mark Henry Brus, MD

DR. BRUS HAS PICKED UP THINGS I NEEDED TO ADDRESS THAT I WAS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT. HE IS FULL OF EXPERT KNOWLEDGE AND CARE. SO GLAD I AM IN HIS CARE.

My whole family has been very happy with Dr. Brus. He is very attentive and to the point which I like. He has always been very thorough. Office staff can be a little grumpy sometimes.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I have been his patient for three years and during that time I saw him for annual visits and once for a problem with my back. I had my annual checkup yesterday with him and I wanted to discuss some disappointment I had with the support and help I had received 5 weeks earlier when I had seen Dr Brus for help with a back problem. The minute I mentioned this situation Dr Brus became a different person. Dr Brus never once even asked how my back was. He became extremely defensive and started blaming things on me. I wanted to have a conversation to try to improve my medical service in the future but he did not see it that way. At the end of the conversation Dr Brus dismissed me as a patient by asking me to let him know where I wanted my medical records transferred. I never mentioned anything about leaving for another doctor. It shocked me and his behavior was the most childish and unprofessional response I could imagine from a doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Brus for over 20 years and he listens and is a wonderful Doctor who takes time to know you and any health problems or concerns you have. I recommend him to many friends!

I have been seeing Dr. Brus for more than a year now. He was highly recommended by friends when I moved to Sarasota 2 years ago. However, it took more than five months to get an initial appointment just for a routine visit. In the meanwhile, I had to get my prescriptions refilled by my former physician in the north. Dr. Brus is knowledgeable, personable and explains things well, but his office staff and nursing staff need much improvement. As an example, I waited more than 10 days to receive a referral for a diagnostic mammogram. The person at his office kept sending the wrong type of referral -- as a matter of fact the office assistant sent the wrong referral three times even though I had clearly described what was needed by the Breast Center. After asking to speak to the nurse who was rude and short tempered, the correct type of referral was finally sent and I could make an app't at the Breast Center for the diagnostic mammogram. Overall I would give Dr. Brus' staff a very… poor grade for efficiency, courtesy and follow through. This kind of behavior encourages patients to move to another practice.

Dr Brus has been our family physician for almost 19 years. I highly recommend him for the care, support and expertise he provides. He helped my young adult son avoid unnecessary tests in an urgent situation because he was able to quickly make the proper diagnosis. Another example is that my OB-GYN refused for years to provide me with a prescription for migraines that were obviously cyclical in nature. Dr. Brus did not hesitate to offer treatment, and I wondered why I had to suffer for so long. When my son was in the hospital, Dr Brus called our house every morning with an update. Very caring and knowledgeable doctor!

I like Dr. Brus, but his front desk staff is the worst. They're so bad I'm thinking about not going back because they never smile, speak in a rude manner and are generally not people I want to deal with. The person that checks you out (older woman) is always on the phone when I check out and it is very clear that she's talking to friends, not someone at work. Dr. Brus is great, but his staff needs some reworking.

I had broken my jaw in several places a few years ago. Ever since that accident I have a problems with passing out for no apparent reason. i'd been to specialists, Maxillofacial surgeons and critical care doctors and had every test known to man run on me. Turns out Dr. Brus was able to help me with the problem. I had an overly sensitive nerve from the broken jaw. A simple heartburn pill was able to cure all my problems. Something so simple yet no other doctors were able to figure it out. I think he was able to figure it out because he really listened to me and took all possibilities in account. Thank you Dr. Brus.

I think Dr. Brus because he actually listens. He also seems up-to-date on latest medical information.
