Mark E. Chittum, MD graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of Utah in 1978. In 1982 he graduated from medical school at the same institution. His internship, residency in Ophthalmology, and fellowship in Retinal Surgery was completed at the University of Washington in 1987. Dr. Chittum founded the Retina Consultants of Southern Colorado in 1987. The main office was located in Colorado Springs, and eventually our satellite office was established in Pueblo to provide convenient services for patients with retinal disorders in southern Colorado. The practice has since grown to include 4 physicians. Dr. Chittum is board certified in Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Colorado Medical Society, and the El Paso County Medical Society. His interests include all medical aspects of vitreoretinal diseases as well as surgery for vitreoretinal disorders.

Dr. Chittum and his staff are all very kind, courteous, and skilled. Dr. Chittum is knowledgeable of the latest treatments and implements them in a timely fashion to provide the best care for me. He stays on top of my personal vision condition with regular appointments and outstanding care. I'm very thankful to be a patient of Dr. Chittum's!

Excellent care for the past three years-saved the right eye. It is easy to sense the commitment to and concern for patients that Dr. Chittum and his associates demonstrate at every visit.

When my vision started getting distorted, my ophthalmologist referred me to Dr. Chittum and I will be ever so grateful. Others in my family lost their center vision to AMD so when Dr. Chittum has been able to treat me with eye shots that became available, I am ever so grateful and feel so blessed.

Mark Chittum is professional, highly intelligent, compassionate and knowledgable of all type of procedures regarding AMD. He has been my physician for over 10 years. If I had to trust my eyes to anybody, Dr. Chittum would be No. 1 on my list.

Dr. Chittum permanently damaged my vision with two surgeries, the second the result of the first. He is uncaring, cold, and incredibly rude. His staff is very nice but his standard procedure of herding patients around like they were sheep just reinforces his attitude that patients are just that...bodies, not thinking, feeling people. I do not know about his partners in the practice, but I would never recommend Dr. Chittum to anyone. Ever.

Treats patients like cattle in an assembly line.Only guy in town and he knows it.

Dr. Chittum projects the attitude that his time is much more valuable than yours. Patients are herded around the office like cattle, and he always acts rushed and too busy to spend much time with you, despite the fact that you've had to wait for him. As a surgeon he is certainly competent, but I found his "bedside manner" inexcusable.
