Dr. Mark Dean Christensen, MD

Have been seeing him for a few years for various issues including shoulder and spine problems. Always a straight shooter who is not looking to send you to a surgeon or pain management doc unless absolutely necessary.

Went to see Dr. Chirstensen to see if we would be a good fit as Dr. and patient. We met for about 20 minutes for what they call an establishment of care meeting. No one told me there would be a charge up front. We talked about our families, hobbies etc.. Then I told him about my 2 over the counter medications as well as one prescription medication. I also gave him a brief medical history. No exam or prescriptions were filled just a meet and greet. I left the office and got a bill for $420. I called and spoke directly to Dr. Christensen about feeling taken advantage of and over charged. He didn't see my point of view and argued about his time being worth what he charged. Said that it was a complex meeting because that's how he coded it. He said it was complex because he wrote down the 3 medications I had and may possible have to fill them in the future. Also because he spent time on the chart before and after the meeting. However I'm not sure how you spend time charting before a meeting… if you know nothing about someone. Just sounded like he cares about money only and not the patient.

He practices in Colorado now and the last reviews say it best, very unprofessional, not compassionate rude Doctor that I have ever encountered.

Very skilled, knowledgeable and great mannerisms

Dr. Christensen is the most insulting, non compassionate doctor I have ever met. He does not work with his patients. It's his way (which is usually wrong) or the highway. He has to be right and will not listen if you try to explain your views to him. He is on a major power trip and refuses to change his mind even when it's wrong. Medicine should not been his field of choice. He has no bedside manor. His goal is to belittle patients and make them feel worse than when they came in. He is a green, pompous know-it-all who is not going to make it in the medical field unless he drastically changes the way he views his patients....which is that they are nothing more than mindless burdens to him.

I came to Dr. Christensen with the knowledge from my chiropractor of a fracture to my L5 and a depleted disk between my L4,L5. Dr. Christensen proceeded to tell me that my chiropractors diagnosis was a lie to continue charging me for treatments, (which helped a little) even though Dr. Christensen had not seen any X-Rays of my back which my chiropractor did. I asked for a referral to see a specialist, he sent me for X-Rays and said he would get back to me when the results came in. After waiting for about a week ( in pain mind you) I contacted him via Email to find out the results of the X-Rays. He denied any fracture and insisted it was just slight narrowing of the disk. He referred me to psychical therapy which we had already discussed did not work and he denied my request to see a specialist. After jumping through hoops to get a referral I finally got to see a specialist who confirmed that I did have a fracture to my L5 and the disk was badly damaged. I'm now in the process of getting… this taken care of about a year after seeing Dr. Christensen.
