Dr. Mark Kane Dodson, MD

I had a scheduled appointment with him, and after waiting for 2 hours in the waiting room, he refused to meet me or speak to me unless I undressed and agreed to a pelvic exam. I was there for a consultation based on images and blood test results to determine likelihood of ovarian masses discovered by my gynecologist. All of my doctors confirmed what I suspected - that there was no clinical reason to do a pelvic exam for this. He refused to speak with me at all with my clothes on despite that I drove 6 hours for his opinion. It seems that he didn’t even know why I was there and just wanted to do a pelvic exam. Disgusting. I would advise against seeing this man. I never even met him even though I was terrified that I might have cancer and was desperate for information.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Dodson in 2001. She had ovarian cancer. She was told she was cured many times by Mr. Dodson. She believed that and went on with her life. I lost her in 2012. The cancer came back. Cancer is never cured.

Dr. Dodson directly blamed me for my cancer without considering family history. He didn't even ask about family history and when I brought it up, he suggested we were all morally deficient. He was filled with contempt and scorn. Not nice at all.

Dr. Dodson is a brilliant surgeon and saves lives! He is perceptive, direct (which I greatly appreciate), and professional. He is recognized by his peers.

Dr. Dodson is a professional and a caring physician. He always makes me feel at ease, looks me in the eye, explains things fully and in a manner that is clear, concise and looks for understanding before continuing when discussing symptoms, treatment plans, what comes next or what to expect.This man cares about humanity, cares about life and finding a cure for cancers, has a tough job and has added hope and inspiration to my life and thinking as a cancer survivor. I highly recommend him as physician. I am also highly critical of physicians and their attitudes, this man's only attitude revolves around the best treatment, options, care and outcome for his patients.

A specialist in any given area does not always give "good news". Dr Dodson is an excellent doctor. He was professional, courteous, and most important he explained everything to me. I felt completely comfortable and well informed. The "C" word (cancer) is life changing to anyone. I am so thankful my local doctor sent me to Dr. Dodson. I will always be grateful for the excellent level of health care he gave me. And yes, my outcome was great 12 years and still counting with good health. Thank you Dr. Dodson.

My experience with Dr. Mark Dodson is one for which I am extremely grateful. Fortunately I discovered the strange lesion that began to grow on my perineum areaearly enough! (My gynecologist had no idea what it was [her words] . . .but she did take a biopsy and thankfully referred me to Dr. Dodson.) I was diagnosed with severe dysplasia of the vulva (VIN III) with extension to the distal vagina, multifocal disease. I learned that I had a stage 3 dysplasia lesion (that was visible to the eye). What I didnt know was that I had extensive stage 1 and 2 dysplasia cells covering my entire vulva area and even into my vaginal entrance. Dr Dodson was able to discover this fact with his special scope instrument and his formidable experience. He explained everything to me. The plan was to excise the stage 3 dysplasia and then use laser ablation to the third surgical plane for the remaining skin tissue (which covered a large area). He explained that recovery would be painful from the laser surgery… . . .but I have managed with lots of rest and quiet. He said it would take about 3 months before I would begin to feel normal again. I feel that I am very fortunate to have an excellent surgeon who is forthright and very knowledgeable about this kind of specialized medical condition and has guided me along the challenging journey. Im also cognizant that he is very skilled and did his utmost to create a tension-free skin area where he excised the stage 3 lesion with undermining surgical technique. Considering how potentially dangerous my condition could have turned out . . .I have nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Dodson . . .a highly skilled, knowledgeable, serious physician and surgeon. I thank him for saving my health.
