He spent considerable time with me and actually listened to my situation and history. I feel like he truly wants to find answers for me.

Dr. Durkan, has been very helpful in helping me unravel my symptoms. He has taken the time to listen and takes my concerns seriously. He has been very kind and compassionate.

Dr Durkan was extremely helpful. He set forth a course of action to diagnose my digestive issues, relieved my anxiety, and was knowledgeable and professional while doing so.

I came to Dr. Durkan for a Celiac diagnosis in 2018. He is very friendly, sincere and is pleasant to interact with. He gave me plenty of time to ask all my questions, and he took time to carefully explain all aspects of Celiac to me, until I had no further questions and he invited me to call anytime I had additional questions. I have been to other specialists before and felt very rushed, like they were too busy to actually make time for me. So those past experiences made me feel extra appreciative of the time Dr. Durkan made to talk with me. He also did an Upper GI proceedure on me at the hospital in 2018 and truly made that experience as pleasant as possible and all went well! I feel Dr. Durkan is very knowledgeable and I feel confident entrusting my health to his expertise. I have had three appointments and one surgery with Dr. Durkan in the past 18 months and all have been pleasant. His office staff was very well organized also and everything went smoothly. My… appointments have been on time and I have not had to wait more than 15 minutes total before being seen, which is much better than many doctors' offices I've been too. I have recommended him to family members and I would definitely recommend you see him if you or a family member are looking for a good GI doctor.

Very accurate in diagnosis and wonderful bedside manner - and great humor!

They said my procedure would be a screening and therefore covered by insurance. They did not code it that way and now I have to pay for everything. I called and they said too bad for me. I would not have had the procedure had they been honest with me. No wonder people want them regulated.

I had four days of excruciating pain, could not work, could not sleep and finally went to the ER for help. After tests and an ultrasound they were unable to diagnose the cause of my upper abdominal pain. They referred me to the Centers for Gastroenterology. I had new disturbing symptoms the morning of my appointment. This and rush hour traffic contributed to my delayed arrival. He refused to see me because I was ten minutes late. So here I sit in the parking lot after two days of waiting to see this expert and now I have to try to find someone else to help me. Does he take the hippocratic oath seriously?

While Im sure that Dr. Durkan is well versed in all things related to the GI track, my overall experience with him would warrant looking for another option in the future if the need arises. My initial appointment consisted of a few very direct questions, the responses of which were often cut short by Dr. Durkan jumping into my response mid-sentence reminding me that what I wanted to explain was insignificant and that he would find what the problem was on his own. Ninety percent of the communication was written unless you wanted to make an appointment, which again typically was more of a lecture on how the GI system works than a give and take where questions could be addressed. In the end his suggested treatment seemed to be effective, but I'm sure there are several capable GI specialists that would offer a more "patient friendly" environment.

I felt like I went to one of those doctors who slipped through the cracks of medical school and somehow graduated.He told me everything that could possibly be wrong with me from a virus to cancer, and then ran down a menu of every treatment option available to find out for sure and left me with the decision of deciding what was best.He let me know that he has accidentally punctured two people's colons during colonoscopies - which resulted in emergency surgery. The odds of this happening are supposed to be 1 in 5,000 . . . He told me that even if it is cancer, it wont matter if we wait two weeks to find out so I could take my time . . . He also decided to make a joke about not respecting British doctors (because he is Irish) after I told him my Grandfather in England died of stomach cancer . . . I felt like I wasted my time and money and was completely creeped out by the whole experience.

Very professional and competent. No complications or pain after my colonoscopy! It's been a few years since and I feel great!
