Dr. Mark Allan Fialk, MD

Dr Fialk has been my doctor for many years, and I must say he is the best that you'll ever find. He is very professional, caring, detailed orientated, thorough on his plan of action, compassionate, honest and always had my well-being at heart. It's because of Dr. Fialk's swift actions that my blood disorder was identified and properly managed. I am alive today because of Dr FIalk. With the excellent care received I am now the proud parent of three beautiful children. (Our family appreciate you so much Dr Fialk!) Thank you for all that you do for your patients.

I saw some good reviews so I switched and did my annual check-ups with Dr. Fialk. It was a terrible experience. He was not paying attention, took a long time (more than a month) to get his feedback on my check-up results and follow-up tests (I had issues), rude (took call when talking to me), lack of basic empathy toward to my health issues. I don't want to go too far to say he may discriminate certain types of people (if true this is terribly wrong) but I do feel that way. Maybe he was a good doctor. But he was definitely not when treating me. Too busy with his other seemingly more important patients? or getting old and lost the basic conscience? Excellent doctor: he includes the patient in every aspect of the decision making process. He is caring and respectful while taking time to assure that the patient is well informed.

Dr. Fialk May possess average technical skill (and that is difficult for a patient to assess, but I will assume that given his many years of practice), but he is beyond question the most inept and unempathetic doctor I have come across in his interpersonal reactions. Considering his specialty — hematology/oncology — that is a terrifying and disqualifying disability. He has to deliver and manage life and death messages to patients and their loved ones. I had an experience with him that will scar me for life. When I share it with friends and neighbors in the Scarsdale-Harrison area (which I still do because of how deeply and lastingly it affected me), several invariably tell me they have too. He practices medical defensively, i.e., like he is afraid of being sued for malpractice, and my suspicion is that he has been and more than once. Avoid him!

He is very direct caring and knowledgeable to speak in terms I understand as a patient. I would go to no one else.

He never had a pleasant bedside manner but he was once a very good and competent doctor. What's sadly changed is his attention to his patients. His interests seem more outside the office now rather than with his patients. Don't ever try to question what he says or voice an opinion potentially different than his or you will feel the fire of his blowback. If he "misses something" he can't bring himself to admit it or to simply say he's sorry. His follow up was once exceptional but now it requires three messages for a return call. Office staff? About the same as any other doctors' office these days.

Dr. Failk cares about his patients. With all his years of experience I feel very comfortable with his management of my care. He can be a little rough around the edges when his plate is full but he is very supportive and really wants every detail to be attended to. He does not take small complaints lightly when you have cancer he wants to be sure all is OK.

He performed a flex sigmoidoscopy without benefit of anesthesia. He made a disparaging remark to me, which I cannot repeat. It was highly insulting. This doctor may be intelligent and highly educated in prestigious schools, but on the particular day I was in his office, he lacked common sense and common decency . Needless to say, I never went back to his office.

Dr. Fialk is what I call a Doctor's Doctor and there is no higher compliment I could pay him. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and caring. He is the consummate professional who remains current and pays attention to detail. I consider myself lucky to be his patient.

Dr. Fialk is so unbearably arrogant in his demeanor. He offered no sympathy whatsoever (I have had a recent cancer diagnosis) and his brusqueness made me feel he was not going to put his energy in to helping me figure out a treatment plan. I don't know how good of a doctor he is because he discouraged questions and couldn't wait to get me out of his office. His choice of field is surprising because he acts like he doesn't really like his patients. I would not recommend him at all!
