Dr. Mark Evans Flanum, MD

Something is wrong with OPA processes. I tried multiple times to see Dr. Flanum. I was able to get into the office and OPA took X-rays and an MRI of my spine. I made multiple calls to set up an appointment with Dr. Flanum with no response. I finally was able to set up a call. Dr. Flanum was a no-show for the call. Several calls by me later, with promises that someone would call, delivered no response from Flanum's office. I requested a copy of my MRI and X-rays. OPA was to email me the required form. The email never arrived. Flanum may be a good doctor, but I will never know because I can't get in to see him or talk to him. OPA is a horrible organization to work with.

Wanted to fuse my spine rather than try a more conservative approach.

Very bad surgeon who damaged my nerve in the procedure. He only cares about money!

Did a multi-level fusion that turned out bad and was unnecessary according to neurosurgeons consulted after the negative result. Stay away from this doctor.

Dr Flanum wanted to do a fusion. I went to another spine doctor and he said I need to try other things first including physical therapy. He referred me to a physical therapist that gave me a regiment of exercises. They are really helping and I don't need surgery. The physical therapist told me about OPA and the surgeries that Dr Flanum are doing just for the money. It is going unchecked which is sad that we have doctors like that in Anchorage.

All Flanum wants to do is fuse your spine. Must be a money thing.

Gave me the creeps. Some of the proved to be true. He tries to do over invasive procedures. Stay away.

Made me uneasy. These are the kind of docs that are driving up health care costs for Alaskans. Talked to Al Gross about Flanum and OPA. We need change and people like Flanum are fleecing Alaskans.

Flanum pushes a fusion off on me and damaged a nerve in the process. Be aware of this doctor and don’t believe the phony good reviews.

Did a great job! No more pain!
