Dr. Mark T Grattan, was one of the best Vascular Surgeon. No word can describe how much I really thank him for all his hard work including his staff members. God bless you Dr. Grattan and your staff.

Departure lounge leaving to Beijing from Honolulu, my father in law had a stroke just as we scan our tickets to board. Airport Emergency Services appeared within minutes, Ambulance to Pali Momi Hospital and excellent care from Dr John Kao and nurses. Scans showed urgent need for Bypass, too risky to fly home (Beijing) and artery’s working at 30% capacity, 1 millimeter in Diameter with failing stents. On day 3 of wonderful care we meet Dr Grattan who presented professional and treated us like his first patient, he completely understood our stresses, situation and fear of losing our family member. He methodically talked us through everystep and explained all possibilities. He recognized my wife (the patients Daughter) as highly emotional & calmed her, she also translated everything to Mandarin for her Dad. We meet Mr Grattan 3 times before Surgery, each time he filled us with confidence. That morning of surgery my wife was beside her self with emotion thinking the worst. During… surgery once it was deemed successful his assistant called to inform us he’s fine, providing 3 updates to relieve us. Only once Grattan walked out of ICU greeting my wife with open arms did she believe her Dad was alive. I call him the walking Jesus! So hopefully this describes how caring, personal and profession this individual is. I’m currently sitting beside my father in law who was a heavy smoker, managers serve diabetes and high fluctuations in blood pressure. He had six months to live and with these variables it gives him another 5 plus years. It’ll be 15 years by the time my wife finishes with him. The enormity of the operation was staggering. Dr. Mark Grattan and his staff made the aortic valve replacement seem almost simple. After the first consultation I felt complete confidence with him and understood the risks I was facing and options I had. They were very professional and compassionate with both me and my nervous wife. After the surgery the care from Dr. Grattan, his staff and Straub Hospital was outstanding. Other than being a little stiff there was absolutely no pain nor soreness. Thank you Dr. Grattan for what you did for me and my wife.

Dr. Mark Gratten must be commended with an extremely high grade of excellence in all areas of professionalism, compassion and care in the manner in which he deals which his patients, insofar as I am concerned. I was able to get through my surgery and recovery period because of Dr. Gratten's excellent care before, during and after the surgery. Dr. Grattan had the most reassuring and caring demeanor of any doctor. He made one of the scariest times of my life a little easier to go through. Even had a calming effect on my family.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT APPOINTMENTS, BUT I WAS A PATIENT OF DR. GRATTAN'S. I WAS FLOWN IN FROM MAUI, HAWAII TO STRAUB AND HE SAVED MY LIFE.
