Dr. Mark D Gray, MD

How he missed a 10cm cyst on my daughter's ovary is completely incompetent. 2 weeks after her annual exam with Dr. Gray, she saw another doctor who immediately felt the cyst and scheduled her for surgery. Day before the planned surgery the cyst twisted her fallopian tube and she had to have emergency surgery. Had she not gone to the second doctor they would have never known what the pain was from the morning her pain began and was taken to the ER. There are plenty of qualified ob-gyn doctors in NY to not have to gamble your health with Dr. Gray.

Dr. Gray is the worst doctor I’ve ever seen. He is judgmental and rude, and lacks empathy. What kind of GYN judges you on your sex life? He is snippy and can’t communicate clearly. It’s insulting when you are an Ivy League graduate and professional and spoken to like you’re an idiot. If you ask a question, instead of giving you an answer that is helpful, he rattles off statistics that have no meaning without context. Some people should not become doctors because they just don’t like people. He is one of them.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gray for several years. He is very knowledgeable, thorough and kind. He always follows up by calling, and he responds to emails too. He makes appropriate referrals and follows up! I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff is great, as is the office space! So what if he’s not gushy and makes no small talk…he is a great physician and takes care of business!

Just avoid, there are so many other doctors. He is not thorough, extremely rude and cold!

I went to him when I decided to settle down and have children, just to make sure everything was in good working order. He was fine until I told him how many partners I had had (the reason for the check up). I received a call within days that my pap had “abnormalities” and I had to come into the office right away. He tried to pressure me into having a LEEP procedure done immediately, said it couldn’t wait. I decided to get a second opinion (thank god), and there was NOTHING WRONG with me. I haven’t had an abnormal pap ever again since then, never had one before.....I believe he wanted to punish me for being promiscuous. He should not be allowed to practice medicine. What a creep.

Dr. Gray is so condescending and rude I'm honestly surprised he still has a job. I asked him questions about the IUD and he would respond with "don't believe everything you read" and "what is your source on that?", while displaying the most judgmental face. He made me feel like I didn't know anything about my own body and that my concerns were not valid. Responding to one of my questions he told me there is no research to support that. I found plenty of research supporting what I was inquiring about, from very reputable sources (I have a Masters, I know how to conduct research properly). I put up with all of this due to location convenience until... He really, really hurt me during a routine exam. I screamed out in pain. I have never ever been hurt like that during an exam. It was radio silence after I screamed, no "sorry", or "are you okay?" - nothing. I asked him why that hurt so bad and all he said is "I really couldn't say." What kind of response is that? I do not think Dr. Gray… should be practicing medicine and I hope after you read this review you stay away from him.

I was scared by the other reviews, but I found Dr. Gray to be extremely thorough, knowledgable and offered me great care. I'm happy I found him and would recommend him to friends. Yes, he's direct but he's also empathetic. He even called me right after my appointment to follow up on something—showing he was thinking about me and my health even after I left his office.

No complaints about his clinical skills, but he has the poorest beside manners I have ever seen. He does not make you feel at ease. I would not go to see him again.

Excellent Doctor!! I haven't visit a GYN in 3 years and he was wonderful!! His staff are courteous and very happy to help you and you can see they enjoy their job!! Highly recommended!!

Find another doctor, find another practice, stay far away from this place. I went to see him on rotation during my first pregnancy, at first i thought the visit was some type of joke. He actually grilled on my childcare plans after my child was born. He said i was irresponsible for working. Most recently I called on a weekend when he was the doctor on call because of severe pains I was having because of a misplaced IUD by another doctor in the practice and I had the displeasure of speaking with Dr Gray. He told me he had no idea about anything and I had to call during normal business hours. Why have on call staff if they are going to blow you off. This doctor has no business being anywhere near a woman, especially one who is pregnant. He is responses are irresponsible and negligent.
