Dr. Mark Farnsworth Hambly, MD

After several years of back/sciatic pain and trying every alternative to surgery, Dr. Hambly performed a fusion on my lower back. He did an excellent job and I am now pain-free and able to walk with ease. I highly recommend him.

Best ever. This is the second time Dr Hambly operated on my back. Answers questions well and explains things so a normal person can understand.

Dr. Hambly is by far one of the best providers I have had. When I had to get surgery and it could not be done due through my normal provider due to work comp insurance issues, the spine surgeon for my provider company at Kaiser called me and told me that if he was getting the same surgery as myself, Dr. Hambly would be his number one go to surgeon! My surgery was successful and Dr. Hambly is professional and personable. I wouldn’t have ever second guessed or looked elsewhere for care. If you need surgery like I did you, you will not regret choosing him as your surgeon!

When I first visited Dr Hambly I had been in pain for years, but recently it was beyond what I could manage. After looking at my MRI he knew within moments what needed to be done. He explained what he recommended, so simply that I was comfortable with what he was proposing. Within weeks I was in the process of having my mutilated disk (L5-S1) removed and replaced with donor bone, held in place with a small plate. Now, 4 months later I am virtually pain free! I am so grateful that Dr Hambly was available and willing to take my case.

I met with Dr. Hambly regarding lower back issues. He was very upfront and straight to the point, which I prefer. He has been in his specialty for over 30 years. He was very attentive to my questions and explained my options on treatment and recovery. I received treatment and I am doing much better now, thanks to Dr. Hambly. I actually recommended family members to see him, due to his knowledge and bed side manner. I truly appreciate him taking care of me, I just hope I never have to see him in that capacity again. I highly recommend him and his staff who were always helpful throughout The whole process.

Dr. Hambly performed major spine surgery on my lower back. Throughout the run-up to my surgery and during my recovering, Dr. Hambly was reassuring, patiently answered all my questions and presented me with realistic options. From the start I had complete confidence in him. Also, everyone on his staff is great - friendly, respectful and thorough and kind. PS Dr. Hambly has a terrific dry sense of humor. Took the edge off.

Dr. Hambly performed a lower Lombard decompression surgery. Another surgery consultation at Stanford neurology suggested I needed a fusion of L4 andL5. I am very happy with the result and after a couple of weeks by nerve pain is almost gone, and I start physical therapy next week. Before surgery, I was literally not able to stand or walk, but for a very short period of time due to strong nerve pain down both of my legs.

I suffered with lower back pain for years but was able to keep it under control with stretching, exercise, and lumbar epidural injections. A couple of years ago I began having worsening pain that radiated to my right butt and hip, requiring more frequent epidurals. When the pain progressed and I developed sciatica all the way down my right leg to my foot, which was very debilitating and left me sleep deprived, I knew I needed a surgical consultation. I was in so much pain and the epidurals were only lasting 8 weeks. Dr. Hambly went over my MRI with my husband and me, and explained everything in detail. I had severe spinal stenosis at L4-5, which had worsened over the years. I underwent a laminectomy and fusion by Dr. Hambly nearly 4 months ago and am so pleased and excited with my results. I had immediate relief of low back pain and sciatica. My recovery was swift and easy. It has been a life-changer for me, I am pain free and feel better than I have in years, returning to my normal… activities, walking 3-4 miles/day, exercising, and road trips. I would highly recommend Dr. Hambly to anyone having spinal issues. Should I have additional problems in the future, I won’t hesitate to call him. Thank you Dr. Hambly!

Dr. Hambly is a caring, excellent specialist. He has tended to me twice, once my lower back and once for my neck. Both times Dr. Hambly and his staff were professional, caring and responsive explaining my conditions well and offered perfect, honest guidance and options. Both times resulted in surgery which went extremely well with awesome outcomes allowing me to live a normal, pain free life. I can't thank he and his staff enough!

Over the last two years Dr. Hambly has performed 2 surgeries for me: spinal stenosis and a lumbar microdiscectomy. Both surgeries resulted in complete pain relief and uneventful recoveries. He can't be recommended highly enough. A good listener with the ability to calmly explain procedures, welcoming any questions. My confidence and trust came easily.
