Dr. Mark Nevin Heinly, MD

Dr. Heinly provides exceptional care, and I often find myself wishing he could take over as my primary care provider. He demonstrates great listening skills, maintains a non-judgmental approach, and consistently offers professional, insightful responses to my questions. I am also looking forward to purchasing his book, “Squirt,” at Amazon as I believe it will be an engaging read.

As Dr. Heinly is Board Certified in both child and adult psychiatry, my son and I engaged him at different times, presenting different problems. My experience lasted over ten years of learning, digging into rough territory with firm but kind guidance from the doctor. My son has had recurring needs to re-visit unresolved feelings and behavior with Dr. Mark, and the psychiatrist has demonstrated deep empathy as well as thorough commitment to helping my son evolve. He will speak to parents of children, but never reveal confidences, a practice I so much respect. Dr. Mark Heinly is simply the best.

My son spent some years with Dr. Heinly as his school work failed this exceptionally bright and creative person. Dr. Heinly took many sessions to make a diagnosis and as the patient grew older even changed the diagnois to fit new patterns. He is on time always (barring emergencies). He speaks with parents but never breaks confidentiality of the child. I later saw Dr. Heinly for many years, after my son went to college, and found him an amazing person to work with. He is deeply intellectual himself, but doesn't push others that way. He is not afraid to tell you he loves art, his wife and children, and makes you feel at ease to bare your soul and dig into your problems. He's very rare, an amazing listener with equally amazing memory so he is continually adding to his understanding of the patient and psychiatry. He monitor medications, and never overmedicates. He is a strong believer in verbal interaction between doctor and patient as the key to successful therapy. I am almost… sorry he was so successful that I no no longer need a psychiatrist! He is the best.

Unlike other doctors, psychiatrists generally keep strict schedules and Dr.Heinly is one. He is a wonderful physician as well as psychiatrist, so he cares about your whole person. He's an excellent diagnostician and not afraid to say he doesn't know something (yet). Gives plenty of feedback. He is kind, yet straight with patients, children and adults.
