Dr. Mark Isaacson, DO

Went into urgent care after a surgery when I couldn't get the surgeon to help me -- had an allergic reaction to one of the post-surgical meds. This doctor took a lot of time to not only diagnose the condition, but also to examine my surgical site to make sure I had no infection and was healing okay, listened to my concerns and gave me additional care, gave me extra fluids since I was having problems swallowing and was dehydrated. When he was prescribing meds he even checked if I wanted the liquid forms (which I didn't since I suspected the cause was an additive), but then he checked the pill sizes and gave me smaller pills so that they would be easier for me to swallow with my condition. Very thoughtful - I was surprised because few doctors think about those things. And then even called the next day to see if I was okay. 2 days later when I had a question about a med and I could not get a nurse to answer and she was going to just make me come in again, I asked if I could leave a… message for him. She eventually let me, and then he called me back in less than 10 minutes. He answered my question right away and saved me another trip back in, which was great since I was very tired from the surgery. I really appreciated an urgent care doctor being this thoughtful. It is unfortunate that other people have had bad experiences -- he is definitely an introverted man, but I found him to be incredibly considerate. Perhaps he has taken feedback and updated his practice. One could hope -- either way, I appreciated his thoughtfulness and patient centered approach. I had never had an urgent care doctor that thoughtful, which is why I decided to come on and rate him. Guessing few people rate urgent care docs.

He took extra time and care, listened well, and very helpful and efficient follow up.

I'm included to suppose the person who wrote "truly exceptional...saved my life" is likely someone affiliated with the doctor concocting a phony review in reaction to the earlier more specific review. In any case, harsh, unwilling to listen, and a strong tendency to jump to unwarranted conclusions describes my experience with him accurately.

Truly exceptional physician. He showed great care in diagnosing my problem, and probably saved my life.

This doctor's manner was harsh and abrasive. He completely ignored the severe conditions I reported and was only interested in treating a minor symptom he discovered himself. When I resisted treating this symptom in isolation, he eventually agreed to subject me to more tests, but was unable to piece together an overall picture. Finally he decided to send me to a hospital emergency room where a smarter, more careful and considerate doctor successfully treated me, but if I hadn't resisted Dr. Isaacson's initial diagnosis I wouldn't be here right now to write this. He very nearly cost me my life.
