Dr Mark Lacy

I've never been treated more poorly by anyone in any situation than I was by Dr. Lacy at our second appointment. I spent the entire afternoon in tears after the way he treated me. When he walked into the room for my appointment (which I was ten minutes early for) he informed me he had "only 3 minutes." Then he asked me about my rash, which was really interesting because I didn't have a rash and never complained about a rash. The UNM OPAT clinic is completely disorganized, slow, and deficient. They couldn't get my prescriptions right, never knew what was wrong with me, and never followed up on bloodwork and scans that were needed to develop my treatment plan. If you need infectious diseaase care, you do have options. I would recommend Infectious Diseases & Internal Medicine Associates at Presbyterian on Harper.

This was my first time seeing this doctor. I waited 2 hours, and then saw a fellow which, having an autoimmune disorder and seeing specialists, I find normal to see a fellow first. She was very kind and thorough. She left to talk with the attending, Dr. Lacey, and together they returned to the room. Dr. Lacey spent less than 1 minute with me, a new patient with a complex medical history, and was belittling the brief time he was there. After sitting there for 2 1/2 hours, experiencing the lack of compassion from his nursing staff (who didn't have my information on hand or my correct name or even the correct name of the doctor I was seeing not to mention calling me the wrong patient name and disclosing information to me about the patient they continued to refer to me as...) and receiving an appology from the fellow who was kind and sensitive to the frustrations of patients having to wait, having to fill-in numerous new doctors locally about my medical history, and being spoken/treated to… the way Dr. Lacey did to me, I will not only be not going back to this ID Doctor, but will let my PCP know about my experience.

I've been seeing Dr. Lacy for about a year. He is not exactly jolly or anything like that, but he is very cordial, he listens to your concerns, and is very efficient about getting me the information I need on my visits. He is also very knowledgeable about the latest HIV info.

Very good, caring and kept me alive. What more could anyone want.
