Dr. Mark Alan Laukka, MD

New Dr for me. Horrible to work with. Needed a follow up after bloodwork ordered by my previous Dr and I was not able to see Dr Laukka personally. Being that I have never met him this only seemed appropriate. W/O talking to me about a new medication he wanted to put me on, he just assumed I would be ok w/it. After researching the side effects myself I found info I found to be worrisome so I told him I wasn't comfortable taking the meds. He then came back and told me that there were no reported cases of this side effect linked to that drug- but on the website for that drug it is listed as a side effect- this made me feel lied to. I was then basically told that I would need to take this drug or have my colon removed- another lie. I have only tried one drug for my colitis, and after research I have found that there are many other options. I feel like they are trying to corner me into taking something that I don't want to take. I wanted to get a second opinion on this as I do not trust… Dr. Laukka at this point, but he wont refer to anyone local as they are "lateral." Basically if they are competition he wont give a referral, which makes me think that its just about the money and not the well-being of the patient. I have not dealt with this Dr for long, but so far it has been absolutely ridiculous.

Very quiet soft spoken, answers ? Professionally!! Its too bad that Dr cant make there own choice, must follow Admin wishes for more visits n more test! I sincerely think he is a great Dr. I just iam fed up with the Admin of Prevea clinic! Point to this was when I was w/o health ins, that they made me pay $150.00 b/f I could see my Dr. for an appt, n that w no balance showing that I owed $$! Is this a caring Clinic, I would say NO!! My blame is on the money hungry CEO n his policy's Iam leaving Prevea not because of my Dr. but the way the clinic views us patients!!!!!!!!!

You have to diagnosis yourself and tell him what tests need to be ordered, because all he will do is offer you a pill to cover your symptoms without looking into them. When he does the tests you have to ask him to do and gets a diagnosis he doesnt even talk to you about it. I had to read my own records to find out what my diagnosis was and had to look online for information because he never provides it. His staff is nice and they care but he does not seem to care about anyone but his paycheck. Also bedside manner should have a zero rating as he looked me in the eyes and accused me of bulimia when I have gasteoparsis (which is sever and causes me to throw up nearly daily) and asked for a feeding tube because I have lost more than 10% of my body weight in two months (25lbs).
