Dr. Mark Mettauer, MD

I had a quadruple by pass in dec 2016 and mettauer give up on me after 12 hours of surgery and said I can't fix it he will die, luckily a er nurse convinced him to continue, he patch me up,i lived for 2 weeks and the bypass collapsed and I had a heart attack and a stroke, then st Lukes cardiovascular team put in a steel metal jacket of stents,i am handicapped, disabled,and ruined for life cause of this so called doctor.he shouldn't be allowed a license.

He made me wait 3 hours in a waiting room. The first hour he had an emergency and I didn’t mind that. When he returned from his emergency he had three patients waiting. He imediately saw the first patient, then the second. When it was my turn he walked past my room and went to the break room. He talked to a friend for about 30 minutes. His nurse told him he had a patient and he continued to sit in the break room. She told him again and he got on his phone. I had been there for 3 hours. I finally just left.

Dr. Mettauer recently, 06272017, performed an open lung biopsy on me. He was present before the procedure to explain what was to happen. He answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed. After the procedure he personally checked on me and within a few days removed the tubes from my lungs with no problems whatever. He is an exceptional surgeon with a caring and professional bedside manner. He also performed heart surgery on my father in law a couple of years ago in the same manner.

I have every confidence in Dr. Mettauer. Dr. Mettauer is very well respected by the everyone in the hospital staff, which further boosted my confidence going into surgery. My surgery and recovery went well. Very impressed that Dr. Mettauer prayed with my family just before my surgery.

Horrible surgeon. Found out later that he actually have been reprimanded multiple times in the woodlands hospital due to negligence and poor outcomes.

I had triple by pass surgery that was performed by Dr. Mettauer. After the surgery I experienced no pain to speak of. I was able to sit up in bed or a chair the day after surgery. All of which I was told is fairly rare in by pass patients. I was initially told it would be 3-6 weeks after surgery before I could drive. The reality was that I was able to drive the day after i got home from surgery with no discomfort. That was 5 days after the surgery. Could not have been more satisifed with the care I received.
