Dr. Mark Jeffrey Oppenheimer, MD

told me to stop my medicine and that my vitamin d was way to high but when i got to see the numbers it is within range. Said i just need to exercise. The nurse was nice but that was all!!!

I went to Dr. Oppenheimer because I was still feeling like I have hypo symptoms even though with meds I am in the "normal" range. I did find out that unless your TSH is over 10, don't waste your time on an appointment. He told me that he didn't believe symptoms started till you were over 10TSH. He spent the entire visit asking me mental health questions, than later revealed that his med student tag along was majoring in psychology. So I got over a $300 bill for him to tell me to see a psychiatrist to be put on meds & to have a few ill placed laughs at my expense that he covers with a blanket apology for his "humor". I will say, all the women who helped me were amazing.

I am highly satisfied with the health care provided to me by Dr. Oppenheimer. He has been my endocrinologist since 2002.

I have been seeing Dr. Mark Oppenheimer for 21+ years first for thyroid cancer and then yearly check ups. I have been vary happy with him, in all ways.

I was extremely pleased in every way with my visit to Dr. Mark J. Oppenheimer of Sioux Falls, SD. I needed help with thyroid problems and Dr. Oppenheimer was recommended to me by my regular medical Physician. Upon arriving at the office I was pleasantly greeted by a courteous and timely staff. I had NO waiting time whatsoever. I was asked by Doctor if I would accept an intern into the office visit and was happy to do so. I felt that Doctor was very informative and listened well. He was also thorough in explaining a diagnosis and treatment plan of action. I would highly recommend Dr. Oppenheimer.

I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Oppenheimer. My expirences with him have been very good. He is by far the best endocrinolgist I've worked with. I am pleased with my care.

After reading some of these comments I too feel compelled to comment on Dr Mark.People need to understand it is his job/role to tell people how he sees it. I for one respect the fact that he doesn't candy coat the obvious, like I have gained weight since the last visit. I see him because I am serious about getting better at managing this disease. There is no question that he is equally serious as well. Is he rough around the edges, maybe. Does he know what he is doing, no question about it. My numbers are moving the right direction. But he thinks I can do better. Is it wrong that he and his staff think I could do more on my part to manage this? I for one think it is appropriate to hold me accountable. I left another Dr to see Dr Mark because all the other Dr wanted to do was prescribe me drugs based on what my current numbers looked like. With her my numbers did not move much.If you are serious about truly managing diabetes, he is a very good choice.

You're not going to leave an appointment with Dr. Oppenheimer all warm and fuzzy. HE'LL be the first to tell you his job is to show you how to manage your disese on an ongoing basis. If you don't follow his instructions, (from one appointment to the next), you will hear about it. If "bedside manner" is being told "everything will be fine..." just to kick the bucket then next day, then give me Dr. O. every time. It's his CARING, not "bedside manner" that is so good. His office is a well oiled machine and his staff has always been professional. I understand why some would find him slightly abrasive; but only when you might have it coming. "You need to diet and excersise more..." Heck, he had me walking laps around his office to determine my walking speed so he could tell me how many minutes a day I needed to walk! Good grief...only Dr. O. :)

Upon my last visit with Dr. Oppenheimer I left so upset I was crying. The man shows no compassion, is always in a hurry, and just seems like he doesn't care. I literally am with him less than 5 minutes each time I see him. Can you honestly exam a patient and find out how they're doing in 5 minutes? Answer any questions, etc? Or get a good feel of what's going on with your patient? When the nurse weighed me I was shocked to find out I gained 20 lbs since my last visit so of course I was very upset by that and when he asked me how things are going, I mentioned the weight. He looked at my chart on the computer, looked at me and said "you need to diet and exercise more". I was already upset and that was the icing on the cake. Could there be a medical problem? I was so shocked at his comment to me that I was speechless. I said no more and my appt was over.The whole office needs to be much more patient friendly.I'm told he doesn't take appts past 2:30.This is very inconvenient for those… of us who live almost 3 hours away.A good Dr. sees patients till late afternoon. My overall feeling regarding this doctor is....I'm just a paycheck to him. When I got to my car I broke down crying. At that point I decided it was time to switch doctors. I would not recommend Dr. Oppenheimer to anyone.

After having read some of the reviews about Dr Oppenheimer I felt I should give mine as well. He has always been nothing but professional, helpful and kind to me at each and every appointment. Of course he doesn't linger any longer than necessary but he is right to the point, always listens to me and has helped me tremendously. I have, and will continue to, recommend family, friends and coworkers if they are in need of a good endo dr.
