Dr. Mark S Penner, DO

Dr. Mark Penner’s behavior during my recent emergency department visit was unprofessional, dismissive, and laced with clear bias. He refused to take my symptoms seriously, provided minimal evaluation, and made decisions that directly contradicted the severity of the pain I expressed. When I attempted to advocate for a more appropriate diagnostic approach, he smiled, interrupted me, and walked away mid-conversation in front of staff. His tone was smug, and his demeanor made it clear that he had already written me off before I finished speaking. This was not just a case of poor bedside manner—it was gendered. The condescension, the refusal to engage, the smug grin—these are not just clinical oversights. They reflect a deeper pattern of dismissiveness that, based on what staff told me, has been raised before. It is unacceptable for a physician in a position of authority to treat patients this way and to model this conduct in front of others. If this hospital values patient care and… equity, it will not allow this pattern to continue unchecked.

Dr Penner is very compassionate and knowledgeable. He was supportive during one of the most stressful times of my life. I am on the fast track of healing due to his prompt diagnosis and plan of care.

I visit the Doctor in the Oconnor Emergency. I felt I was discriminated by the Doctor. He was very rude and said he could not help me that I need to go see my regular Doctor. If it was not an emergency then I would of never bothered to go to the hospital. He treated me like crap and I am very upset and dissappointed that OConnor hospital would employee somebody like Dr. Penner. I was born at this hospital and take my family there until today.
