Dr. Mark Perlmutter

Dr. Perlmutter is very compassionate. It’s obvious that he cares about that person on an individual level. He is by far the best, he explains treatment, diagnosis, and other questions you may have without making you feel like it really isn’t that important to know. His attitude is relaxing, and bedside manner is over the top in quality. If someone were to ask for a recommendation he would definitely be the only on the list because he is the best!

As a parent, you wish to never encounter one of those freak accidents that can happen with young children. Our 4 year old son lacerated his wrist, all the tendons, nerves, and artery. It was a traumatic injury. Our hospital no longer has pediatric hand surgeons on call. Luckily for us, DR. Perlmutter stepped up to take care of our baby. He explained things step by step in a way we could understand, he had a calm and reassuring way about him, but was also confident in his abilities. Along with everyone else who had worked with him before. Basically, if you needed a surgeon, he was the one to have. Post surgery he wrapped our son’s arm with candy inside. This made him excited about his stint. He also ave us his personal number to contact him anytime with any questions or concerns. I probably used this to my advantage more than I should have. However, he always responded in a timely manner and never made me feel my questions or concerns were dumb. He made appointments comfortable and fun.… The therapist he referred us to, was all we could have wished for for our son. Overall, things couldn’t have gone smoother than they did. We have forever grateful.

I flew in from northern VA for Dr. Perlmutter to do my surgery after hearing of his reputation. I had both elbow and wrist surgery at the same time with him last Wednesday. My arm was hurting very bad and Dr. Perlmutter diagnosed me with a severe “pinch” in my ulnar and median nerves, and a torn ligament from a horrible trauma at work. Even though my Workmen’s Compensation denied the claim, he supported me. After opening me he realized that my muscle was torn as well. Everyone at both his office and the hospital were really nice and Dr. Perlmutter spent a lot of time explaining about my case when he diagnosed me and several times before the surgery including the day of. He was very caring, knowledgeable and reassuring which made me feel very comfortable. I don’t remember much after the anesthesiologists told me that he was going to numb my entire arm, and by the time I woke up I was already in the recovering room. Awaiting for me was a table with many of the snacks that he knew… I liked (because of previous conversations). My arm was wrapped with a dressing with a sticker that said “please call me with any concerns” providing his personal cell phone number. I never had any doctor give me his personal number and that just shows the level of commitment and caring that Dr. Perlmutter has for his patients. For the first week after surgery, I never had any pain at all because he gave me a long acting anesthesia to spare me from the most painful period. Now, over a week later, the pain is barely there and I only had to take an ocasional Motrin. Without a doubt this is the best experience I ever had with any doctor. Should I ever need surgery again I will come back to Dr. Perlmutter. I highly recomend this skilled, caring and extraordinary Doctor.

Had ulnar nerve palsey and carpal tunnel surgery on left arm. Results were wonderful. Getting set to have right arm and hand done.

I felt better when I left after talking to Dr. Perlutter. He reassured me that the surgery would possibly make my shoulder better, but not doing anything would only make things worse.

Dr. Perlmutter and his staff worked in a timely and efficient manner to get all my paperwork done. They truly are wonderful and take special care with you as an individual!!! Thanks!! K. Crudup

The care that my 5 year old son received after fracturing his arm was absolutely amazing and the best that any mother could ask for. My son had the worst arm fracture for a child. He had a closed displaced supracondylar humerus fracture of his right elbow requiring major surgery. Dr. Perlmutter and his staff was WONDERFUL, gave Excellent care to my child, keep me well informed of what to expect, my child's surgery, and plan. I received the proper education to be able to also care for my child at home during the healing process. My child had a wonderful outcome with full use and range of motion of his arm. I am very grateful for Dr. Perlmutter's expertise and care given to my child. It truly showed how devoted he is to his profession.

2 separate appointments with grater than 2 hour wait before being called back

I cannot say enough about this doctor. He's easy to talk too, never rushing you through your appointment. I definitely had this problem with the first doctor I saw. He performed a TFCC repair and it turned out better than I thought was possible. Since then I've had a bad sprain and nerve issues in the same wrist (both a result of playing too hard) and he's helped through those as well. What other doctor tells you to call after hours if you need anything?? He goes above and beyond for every patient. I was blown away by his genuine care for my case. I met several patients of Dr. Perlmutter while in therapy after my surgery. Everyone loved him for the same reasons I do! Such a blessing to have found him. I trust him completely with my care.
