Dr. Mark Jeffrey Pirwitz, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Pirwitz. I've seen him for several years now for regular checkups monitoring my congenital heart defect. He is extremely caring, friendly, and professional. He always takes time to explain things thoroughly and using terms that are proper but that lay person can also understand, rather than a lot of medical jargon. He doesn't try to rush through the appointment, asks if I have any questions, and really takes time to answer any questions I do have.

Mark Pirwitz is an outstanding surgeon who treats his patients with care and respect. He has treated both my wife and me for several years and we feel fortunate to be in his care.

I chose Dr Pirwitz because he seemed pretty knowledgeable. But when it came to renewing medications it takes two weeks to get a reply. When I broke a molar and was in pain my DDS wanted Dr Pirwitz to approve the tooth extraction because of my heart issues. Calling every day didn’t get anywhere. Going in and having the Nurse call a supervisor didn’t help. While calling every day, I went into the office again and filled a formal complaint. Being in a medical group I expected a backup doctor could clear me for a tooth extraction but none would. After two weeks of constant pressure his nurse did call the DDS and say I was okay for a tooth extraction. But why two weeks? Recently I went into the emergency room and was admitted. Three days into my hospital stay the cardiologist at the hospital still had not heard back from Dr Pirwitz. Too long in an emergency situation. The hospital Doctors took me off my Losartin, for a connective tissue disorder. I talked to Dr Pirwitz’s nurse… to see if I should start it up again? She said that she could have an answer by Monday; last Monday, over a week ago. Two weeks again for a medical question? Why always so long? Still no answer but hoping that this review will get me a reply? Looking for a new cardiologist who will reply when needed.

Dr Pirwitz is a great clinician but unfortunately neither he nor his PA treat patients with respect. They do not return your calls and will cancel and re-schedule your appointment all the time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Pirwitz for two years. He replaced my aortic valve via aTAVR procedure. Dr. Pirwitz and his staff are very caring, punctual and professional. I would highly recommend him.

Dr Pirwitz has never sat down with me to go over my test results. I've been going to Dallas to a pulmonary specialist and cardiologist I feel Dr Pirwitz is a smart physician but he had never talked to me about my pulmonary hypertension and all the echo's I've had done watching my heart & lungs.
