Dr. Mark Woodson Root, MD

I called for months trying to get an appointment over and over after already being a client to be discharged for not seeing him in too long. Kind man but I just wouldn't reccomend at this point. Now I'm without a psychiatrist when I need it the most because of their secretaries (or lack of.)

Dr.Root saved me from the depths of my depression and anxiety.He worked with me and through his care I have healed to the point of a somewhat normal life.He is a very caring and understanding human being and without him I don't know where I would be today! Praise the Lord.

When a doctor prescribes a medication that changes mental status, steady monitoring should be mandatory. As Dr. Root's patient, this was not done. I had a terrible mental reaction to the medication that he misprescribed for a disorder that I do not have. As he said, "there was no way of testing for the disorder so take --- (pills) because I think you have this illness". After I stopped taking the pills, it took a year for the medication to leave my system. I should have sued! Thank god I found a "professional" psych. "Guessing" in medical dicisions is very dangerous when there is no follow-up. I would never reccomend Dr. Root to anyone. The other complaint that I have is that as his last patient for the day, Dr. Root was having a very difficult time staying awake which made me feel that I was wasting his time let alone my own!

Heron Ridge Associates and Dr. Root treated my son like garbage, essentially.They are very difficult to communicate with and are essentially a bureaucratic nightmare.

He is such a great guy. Thoughtful, caring, and very smart. He is the perfect psychiatrist.
