Dr. Mark Evan Sand, MD

Dr. Sands performed a Ross Procedure on me in 1998. It was a very hard time for my family and I. At the time I seen Dr. Sands he told me that I would be his 8th person he would perform the Ross Procedure on. I was hesitant, but felt confident that he can do the procedure. Dr. Sands kept my family and I calm and at ease. During the surgery I went into cardiac arrest 3 times. Dr. Sands nurse came out and told my wife what was happening and my wife collapsed. Dr. Sands told the nurse to tell my wife that he was not giving up and he was working hard at keeping me alive. Hours had passed and Dr. Sands came out and told my wife that I was stable and alive and he will monitor my progress. The nurses were so kind and they told my wife too call through out the night and do not worry about bothering them. Dr. Sands saved my life and gave me many more years to be with my family. I now enjoy life to the fullest thanks to Dr. Sands. I am so happy and thankful that I am able to enjoy my grand… children whom I love dearly. It has been 21 years since Dr. Sands performed the Ross Procedure on me and my cardioligist today tells me that who ever did your procedure did an EXCELLENT job and the valve looks like it was resently put in. My family and I are thankful for Dr. Sands and his magical hands. God bless Dr. Sands. Amen

My grandfather got switched from LONGWOOD to ORMC. His procedure was started by just a simple heart cath to see what was going on. He had already had 6 heart stints and once his heart doctor went in for the heart cath he said he couldn’t fix anything with just stints. My grandfather was then told that they were going to order a life vest that he was to wear for 3 months and then they would look over the results. This gave me the chills, and I didn’t like the idea what so ever. After he got switched over to ORMC which is home of Dr. Sand my grandfather went and got looked over all the test results and what they found and just where the blockages were and some of his stints that were not in the best of shape anymore they then told him he was just going to have one of two more heart stints (after we were told that his heart doctor couldn’t and didn’t feel comfortable doing them because they would basically do no good. Finally we got on the right path and we got our heads together and we… were blessed with Dr. Sand he came to tell my grandfather that he wanted his insight and opinions on how he felt about quadruple heart by-pass. Every other doctor wanted NOTHING to do with doing the bypass because of my grandfather’s age, my grandfather then got together with the family and asked us just how we felt. I thought long and hard and then I seen and spoke with Dr sand and I felt nothing but confidence in his words, his plans, and just what the bypass would bring to my grandfather, which was like a whole brand new fresh start. We finally decided with my grandfather that it would be the best if he went ahead and did the bypass BUT with nobody else except Dr. Sand. My grandfather went ahead and told him YES he went down for the bypass we had used the EASE app and it was a bit of a relief as well amazing app that gives you updates and keeps you posted throughout the whole surgery. Dr. sand gave my grandfather many more years with us that we are so beyond thankful for everyday. Now we all have our shirts that even let everybody know that Dr. Sand is the man and showing our appreciation every day. Dr. sand is the MAN! Thank you so much again doc. We can’t ever thank you enough.

Dr Sand did a five bypass on me. Saved my life.

The best bedside manners I had ever seen in any doctor. I truly appreciated his attitude throughout my treatment. He helped me too relax.

Dr Sand is an incredibly competent, kind surgeon. We take physician recommendation seriously and Dr. Sand is one of them.

Dr Sand operated/Open Heart surgery on me back in 2007. I must say i was scared as heck but 3 days before my operation i went to meet Dr. Sand at his office. He explain in detail what was wrong with me and what he was going to do. I must say that yes i did shed some tears listening to him because again i was scared but at the same time he assured me that everything was going to be ok. It felt so good knowing someone who i never met before showed that he did care and wanted to help me with my Heart Problem. I would recommend him anytime and if i need to go back as they say under the knife, i would surely ask for him to do the procedure.

What a great experience with this doctor.My sister went in thinking she would walk out of there with an appointmet of when her heart surgery would be. To our surprise Dr.Sand let her know he doesn't eel surgery is needed. He is still humble enough to say ghe will consult with another surgeon and her cardiologist to see how they feel. We left there knowing God had answered our prayers and has worked wonders through all the docters my sister has been seeing. May God continue to bless him and all those who take their profession at heart, no pun intended! :)

Just had an aortic valve replaced by Dr Sand. Incredible. Cant think of better words.

Very good explanation of what matters needed to be taken care of; how they would be taken care of; and what to expect before, during and after surgery. He was right on!
