Dr. Mark Daniel Saunders, MD

I will never understand the negatives in his reviews. He cured my father's cancer on his nose and has been a wonderful Dr. His whole working career! This review is based on over 30 years of experience with Dr. Saunders. We admire him!

Bewildered and furious with Dr. Saunders and his staff. My husband and I have treated with his office for years. We have always paid our bills on time, been punctual for appointments, and been courteous and respectful to him and his staff. And we have overall been pleased with the care received. Yesterday, my husband had a follow up appointment for his pre-cancer treatment scheduled for 4:15 pm. At 11:30 am that morning, he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and admitted for emergency, life-saving surgery. As soon as we learned the diagnosis, I called Dr Saunders office to notify them of our inability to keep the 4:15 pm appointment. Their response was not one of concern; rather we were advised that there would be a $90 cancellation fee, as they require 48-hour notification. Further, we were advised that we would not be able to reschedule and receive further care in their office until the fee is paid. I questioned the policy given our circumstances, and requested that the… staff talk to the doctor about waiving the fee given our particular situation. I called back this morning and was told that the doctor would not agree to waive the fee, period. WOW. How can you give 48 hours notification in the event of an emergency? Apparently, they don’t care. Absolutely no exceptions. We will absolutely find a new dermatologist.

Wasn’t billed for almost a year then we got a huge bill and all they could say we made a mistake.

Poor experience, dirty office, lack of professionalism, would not recommend to anyone travel the extra miles to get quality care

I was driving my grandfather 80 miles to Traverse City from West Branch, and we figured that we would be about 15 minutes late to his appoinment for a melanoma. We called ahead and informed the office of the delay, and the receptionist said that the doctor may not see him because we projected being 15 minutes late. The receptionist basically was arguing with my elderly grandfather saying that there was no guarantee that the doctor would see him because of the lateness, and he should reschedule the appointment. We ended up being 7 minutes late, and he had to use the restroom after the hour-and-a-half trip there. My grandfather said to the receptionist that we were early, meaning we were earlier than the 15 minutes that we expected to be late, and the receptionist proceeded to directly correct him saying that we were 10 minutes late (even though we were only 7 minutes late). My grandfather was upset that they were giving him grief for being marginally late to the office. There was nobody… waiting to see the doctor either. The doctor also gave him grief for needing to use the restroom and not seeing him until 11 minutes after the scheduled appointment. I could not believe that the customer service was this poor, or that they stay in business when they clearly have no empathy for their patients. It's Northern Michigan for heaven's sake; there happened to be a single lane road due to construction and both directions of traffic have to wait for an extended period of time. I still cannot believe that after 20+ years of being Dr. Saunders' patient that he would be treated with such disregard and a lack of understanding for our situation. I found it incredible that Dr. Saunders was included in a Top 20 Dermatologist article hanging in his waiting room, albeit the article was from 1998, nearly 20 years ago. I don't care how educated you are in medicine and dermatology, you shouldn't treat your patients like garbage. Do not waste your time with this doctor or his office staff. P.S. I later realized how pretentious this doctor is when the name of his practice is M.D. Saunders, M.D.

First experience was great. Clean office and friendly knowledgeable staff. I would recommend Dr. Saunders office to anyone. Both Dr. Saunders and his PA are great and very well educated. I will be returning.

He's great if you want over treatment and being yelled at. This guy needs to retire and get therapy. As long as you don't question anything and blindly stay in his good graces and let him bill your Medicare insurance you will be fine. He also likes to keep his staff young and dumb. The good smart ones don't last. Zero stars would be better.

Saunders: ARROGANT /UNPROFESSIONAL / RUDE / CONDESCENDING If I could give ZERO stars I would. HE IS A ZERO. He screamed at me in his office and then told me to get out of his office. I screamed back and told him the above and more. He is an Educated IDIOT. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY! He gives the medical profession a bad name. I will be spreading the word of my experience.

He treated our Mother who is elderly. When she called to say she was going to be late for a scheduled appointment she was told if she was not on time, her appointment would be automatically cancelled and in order to reschedule she would need to pay a $90. fee with her credit card. The appointment was to re-check a surgery. When we complained we received a very arrogant letter informing that this Dr. Was dropping my mother as a patient and that we could check the Yellow Pages to find another doctor. He would also need $34. to forward her medical records! She is currently being treated by a plastic surgeon for Mersa in the wound site, following Dr. Saunders surgery. Worst experience, ever!

Have used Dr. Saunders for skin issues for years. Presently 68 years of age with sun damaged skin. Always explains situation and treatment options.
