Rude and inconsiderate staff. Could not get a hold of anyone on the phone for ages with such a terrible automated system! Then when I finally got a call back, the woman on the phone was audibly irritated, brusque, condescending, and loudly sighing just because I asked to reschedule!

Some docs are knowledgeable, but are brusque and don't really seem to care about the patient. Some are very caring, but are not skilled, knowledgeable clinicians. Dr S is both. He is one the smartest docs I've met, not only in his specialty. He admits when he doesn't know something and will always try to refer you to someone who might have the answer. He goes the extra mile, advocating for what his patient needs, and though his schedule is always full, he always takes the time to do what is needed. NOTE: Just because he cares, doesn't mean he can be manipulated. Believe me, I've tried. I would recommend Dr S without reservation for anyone who has psychiatric needs. I especially recommend him for anyone whose depression has not been helped by meds. I had bottomed out, was hopeless, ready to give up. But after receiving TMS from Dr S, I feel joy again and can function and do the work needed. Ask him about TMS, or check it out on his website.

The absolute best psychiatrist ever

Dr. Schlickman, please get Karen out of your patients' business. She should not be listening to messages left for you or returning calls left for you on YOUR extension. Your patients want to be able to leave a confidential message for you, not for your secretary. Furthermore, she is rude, entitled, and doesn't know how to communicate with people in crisis. I eventually had to change psychiatrists after many years because of her. You would be doing yourself a big favor if you got rid of her. Judging by other reviews, many of your patients agree. The fact that you haven't reined her in or gotten rid of her entirely, shows you aren't listening to your patients.

I first started going to see "Schlickie" eleven years ago, while I was in a raving bipolar mania. He took time to talk with me and understand my condition and how best to treat it. After my first appointment he put me on a mood-stabilizing medication that I have remained on ever since. Even though I had been unable to work for two years before meeting him, within one month of our first appointment I was able to accept a position working as an aide in the Massachusetts State House. Since then he has met with me regularly for therapy and medication management, and I have never considered leaving and going elsewhere. Schlickie challenges me when I need to look at myself more closely. He makes me think. I really believe that he understands my personality and my needs as a person, not just as a patient. He's firecracker-smart and stays current on all of the research. The last time I met with him I told him "You saved my life."

I have been a patient of Dr. Schlickman for about 15 years. He is always respectful of my opinions and ideas. He never seems to be "going through the motions" like some doctors do. He takes the time to get things right. Karen, his secretary, is definitely too involved with his patients' business. I have also never found her to be very friendly. I would definitely recommend him if you are looking for a good quality Psychiatrist.

Though he has good rapport, he lacks objectivity and has a tendency to over medicate. His asessesment skills were poor and he misdiagnosed me will a serious psychological disorder (though I had no psyh history) and later on discovered I had a serious physical disease. Other professionals in his field share the observation concernimg his inclination to overmedicate. Hisexchanges with his loud and boorish secretar, Karen were bazarre and she had far too much imput concerning the clients.

this guy is so full of himself he has no time for anyone else. I wouldn't recommend this guy to my worst enemy. Unless of course you are looking for self absorbed, pompous and narsositic.
