Mark J. Sebastian, DMD, DICOI
Dr. Sebastian has resided and practiced in Federal Way since 1980. He prides himself in his strong ties to his community and strives to provide the highest standards of care in a warm and comfortable manner.
Dr. Sebastian received his dental degree in 1977 from the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed an internship in general dentistry at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, PA.
In 1978 he moved to Seattle for a 2 year residency in periodontics at the prestigious University of Washington, School of Dentistry. After graduating in 1980, Dr. Sebastian opened his periodontal practice in Federal Way. He has been an influential part of the Washington dental community for over 29 years.
Dr. Sebastian provides the most advanced periodontal care available. It is important to him to accommodate each patient's individual needs.
"I like to explain to my patients my findings and what their various treatment options are. They can then make an educated decision on …what is the best course of dental treatment for themselves. I want my patients to thoroughly understand what the status of their dental health is, if there are problems what they are, what we can do about it, what the limitations are, and why."

Additionally, Dr. Sebastian is an expert in the placement of dental implants and is both a Fellow and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Since 1988, Dr. Sebastian has surgically placed over 2000 dental implants.
He is an active participant in the community and has volunteered with OUTDOORSFORALL, an organization providing snow skiing and other outdoor recreational opportunities to individuals with mental or physical disabilities.
Dr. Sebastian is married with two children. He is shown here skiing in Wenatchee at a Special Olympics event with his autistic son. His outside interests include hunting, fishing, recreational downhill snow skiing, Special Olympics, and Oregon and Washington wines.
While Dr. Sebastian graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and did his periodontics surgery residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (and is a Tyee member and a UW football and basketball season ticket holder), he attended college at Penn State (where he met his wife, Janet, who has a BS in Nursing). Dr. Sebastian was at one time the Puget Sound Penn State alumni club president and it is an understatement to say he is an avid Penn State football fan. Dr. Sebastian makes an annual tailgating/football pilgrimage to Happy Valley, Pennsylvania to meet up with college buddies and attend the greatest venue in college football, Beaver Stadium.
Just recently, Dr. Sebastian and his family participated in a local Walk F.A.R. for N.A.A.R., a fundraising event for the National Alliance for Autism Research. They directly raised over $8,500 through their efforts.
Dr. Sebastian was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists at it's 81st Annual Convocation in Orlando, Florida on October 8, 2010. An honorary organization for the recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community, in an impressive cap and gown ceremony, the College presented Dr. Sebastian with a membership plaque, a gold lapel pin and key symbolic of this Fellowship for conspicuous service rendered to the art and science of dentistry.
