Dr. Mark Vincent Seby, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Seby for over 30 years. He is a great Doctor and takes the time to visit and assess the care of each patient. The negative for him is the wait time for his service. I understand, and accept that he is in high demand.

Dr. Seby is easily the WORST doctor I have ever seen. To start, I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes past my appointment time just to see him. If this were the only problem, I might be able to look past it, but it wasn’t. He seemed like a nice man when I finally got in to see him, but during my appointment, he failed to address a possible health problem found during his physical exam. His performance (or lack of performance) since then has been poor at best. I had routine blood tests drawn that showed a couple of abnormal results. There was no follow-up from Dr. Seby at all. Nothing. I called to set up a time to talk to him about the labs. No response. No follow-up. Nothing. I have called 12 times over the last 4 months to get a simple order for a routine colonoscopy. I left messages with his medical assistant and other office staff. No response. No order. No call. Nothing. It is a total waste of time to see someone who runs hours late and won't respond to any of your health needs. … Save yourself the frustration and trouble and find another doctor.

My family has been seeing Dr. Seby as our PCP for some 30 years. I would describe him as thoughtful, caring, compassionate and very meticulous in terms of his diagnoses. As others have stated, he takes the time to talk and get to know his patients. This is not always possible in some medical specialty fields but Dr. Seby makes it a priority in his family practice. His knowledge in a variety of medical sub-specialties is very very high and he provides the perspective of the big picture in terms pursuing surgery or other invasive forms of medical treatment. He is also very firm in terms of initiating followup with a specialist for invasive forms of treatment when necessary. His medical expertise as a family practitioner is top 1%. He is an absolute top tier physician. Furthermore, I have found his office staff to be very polite. They are medical technicians rather than nurses. Nurses have become a rarity in most physician offices. Larger practices will employ a nurse… practitioner or a physician assistant. Regarding wait times, the critical reviews are accurate. If you are expecting to get in within 10 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, you will be disappointed. The solution for me is to call ahead to check on my appointment status or to bring my laptop and my work with me. My family members do the same. In summary, the pluses of Dr. Seby's medical practice for my family far outweigh the downsides of appointment time problems.

Very pleased with Dr. Seby's healthcare, but the 3-hour or so waits are not to my liking.

Dr. Seby is a kind, caring physician with an excellent bedside manner. He is genuinly interested in understanding the needs of his patients and makes an effort to know you instead of just seeing you. Wait time can sometimes be long but Dr. Seby more than makes up for it when you are examined by him. In my opinion, to see such a fine physician is well worth the wait.

The first appointment I had with Dr. Seby, I waited an hour and a half. The second appointment I had to wait an hour. Both of these appointments were late in the day and the care I received was really great so I believe that it was worth it. However, today I was his very first appointment and after a half hour of waiting for him to show up at the office, I decided to leave. This is so incredibly unprofessional and rude and I'm losing money by not being at work during this time. If there was a reason for him not being on time, I think that he should have let his staff know so that I could be informed. I don't think I'll be seeing him again.

When you first call this office, the receptionist is fairly courteous and helpful to get you an appointment and Seby accepts a wide range of insurance plans. I got an appointment the next day thought at first I wouldn't have to wait a week or two just to see the a doctor. My condition requires a fair amount of monitoring and blood workups to make sure all is well. Many docs are so backlogged due to overbooking that you have to wait weeks or months to just follow up on a blood test that will only take the doc 15 mins to go over with you and even less if you are healthy. I walk into this old 1910 house (yes it is a converted house) in midtown flagstaff, the ambiance is mostly silent with a touch of squeaking from the floors as people walk on them. No one greeted me when I walked in, luckily the receptionist wasn't too far away in the next room. occasionally, I would have to sign in upon arrival though this wasn't always the case. the lady was at the computer was a bit annoyed for some… reason, though didn't think much of it. I was told it would only be a few minutes to see the doc. Boy!, was that an understatement. So I sat down in a room across the hall that might have been originally a living room or bedroom. then came the wait. I took a look around and the floor was clean and everything was neat and tidy, every room was fairly spotless really very organized and well kept. I spent some time reading the few magazines in the office thought that would be enough and would be seen fairly quickly afterward. This was not the case, however. so I waited its easy to overhear conversations in this place the echo is fairly well amplified. after about 15 mins the receptionist answers the telephone and not soon after starts to argue with the caller, I try my best to ignore it, though when you are in a place with good acoustics as this those little arguments can seem more like yelling and screaming. I continued my wait by staring out the window, then I paced around a bit, then went outside, even took a short walk. When I came back in 30 mins later he still wasn't ready to see me. now it was 45 mins in and its getting a bit difficult to find something to do, since I have ADHD that is no easy task. I sit back down, its in these moments you start to notice the furniture as my back was not too fond of the couch and even less toward the chairs. some may be more tolerant than I, it seemed like sitting on these chairs felt more like sitting on needles. I stared outside again, even went to sleep. I awoke at the 1 hr mark finally the nurse says it was my turn. Frequently, I would see new faces and would think well people come and go, they defiantly went from this place only to come if they absolutely were forced there due to inability to find work. The nurse takes me down the hall toward the back of this squeaking echo-chamber and does the routine weight and blood pressure checks. occasionally, chit chats depending on which nurse is there. I was then lead further down the hall to the far end of the house to a room that was probably a bedroom though this one did not have a fireplace. the nurse went over my medications asked if I was still on them or had new ones, after which she then leaves and closes the door. the wait would again ensue from here. I noticed that the doc likes to buy over the counter products. I didn't have to peep around to do this or anything just right there out in the open in a bookcase. thought it might be a problem for anyone who had a children as they might want to fool around with bottles and tongue depressors and cotton swabs. also in this room was some odd trinkets that I didn't initially know what was. though further examination of the room would reveal a television set. I figured that it might be ultrasound equipment unless he was planning on hooking up directv or dish, I would have been happy if he did at this moment as there was nothing to do. There was also more magazines though these were out of date NatGeo's nothing new or interesting. so I sat down first in the chair of pain, then layed down on the floor that which was actually more comfortable than the chair. I stare at the ceiling and space out for a bit, then close my eyes. When I arose from a 1 hr nap the doctor was still nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he forgot about me though due to the acoustics of this place I was able to hear a few spoken words through the walls. Was he still with the patient before me? actually, when I inquired about it the nurse said I was actually the 3rd in line! thus, I was lead into a room before the patient before me was being treated. 2 hrs pass and as patient as I am it is now starting to get to me. I walk out the room and look a peak into the next and behold a DOG! apparently taking his pooch to work doesn't seem a bit odd to him, no worries about people who are allergic or terrified of them. I have no qualms as an animal can be a stress relief even at work, though its not a common sight since not a lot of employers will allow pets as they can make people uneasy if they are say afraid of them. I give her a pet or two then return to the dungeon. from this point on I was constantly trying to pass the time though nothing was expediting the process. I counted the dots on the ceiling even took a hand of solitaire on the computer... no one came in and while I don't like to snoop, the boredom was too much to overcome and thought maybe a game wouldn't be noticed. No one came in for the entire time I was on it about 10 mins played about 8 hands and returned the computer to original state. I'm out of ideas still he is not around. so I just stare into space for I don't know how long. about 45 mins. 3 hrs since I walked into this place I am finally greeted by the doctor. He is a well mannered old man with a white bushy hair. said he was sorry about the wait and I am finally grateful the wait has r

My husband has been seeing Dr. Seby for 10 years. He loves him and the care he gets. However, he spends at least 3 hours waiting to be seen. The doctor is never on time, even if my husband has the first appt in the morning, he still has to wait at least an hour for the doctor to arrive in the office. I would suggest since he does spend so much time with each patient that he adjust his schedule to allow for that.

Dr. Seby is so thorough with all of his patients. He asks a lot of questions, and answers your questions by providing resources, books, articles, etc regarding whatever may be afflicting you. He is so caring, and he remembers his patients very well. One time he recalled something about my husband that was 9 years before. His patients are his family, and you can feel that he cares about you when you being seen. The only negative thing is that your wait time will be much longer than any other doctor because he is so thorough with everyone. But it is well worth the wait!
