Dr. Mark Shukhman, MD

If I could give zero stars I would but that is not an option. This guy is an absolute tool. I did not need to be assessed while at McLaren but they asked and said it was optional and I figured it would not hurt. I was wrong. This crook kept me for an additional day at the hospital because he said a Dr. had reported they heard me making statements indicating I was homicidal. I was not even suicidal much less homicidal. He was trying to railroad a mental health nurse to inpatient care because I guess maybe he was behind on his car payments. He asked me three times during the first interview what I did for a living. You think he would remember if someone told him they were a mental health RN but not this genius. I was in for pain and CMH did a mental health screen and cleared me. Then the NP later told me since Mark assessed me he could override the CMH recommendation. Of course they did not tell me this prior to seeing this liar. I will never step foot back in a McLaren as a patient. I… will be going to Munson in Gaylord or Traverse city. I find it hard to believe this guy has so many good reviews, I question the veracity of these reviews. They cannot possibly be real. He provided substandard clinical performance with clearly questionable medical judgement and honesty to be frank. He was dismissive of my statements and he talked at me more than to me trying to build his BS case for homicidal ideation. He lacked professional conduct as his approach to medicine was highly questionable and unprofessional. His dismissive attitude and unprofessional conduct compromised the patient-physician relationship. It was all BAD, it is as simple as that. I honestly cannot say one good thing about him. I only saw him once but he made and cancelled 5 appointments throughout the day and I saw him LATE. UNACCEPTABLE! Even my nurse said he was horrible. I have patients on the behavioural health unit I work on tell me that ER nurses and doctors as well as psychiatrists and CMH screeners lie about what they say all the time. I was skeptical regarding this possibility but now I know it definitely happens. You have been warned.

Dr.Shukhman is completely reliable in every way. He’s always engaged with what I’m saying and offers potential solutions. He’s punctual, pleasant, has a good sense of humor and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Met him on a virtual appointment through another site. He was fantastic! Very caring and funny and intuitive. He had me figured out in 20 minutes and made great recommendations. I sought him out after that so I could skip the tele-a-med limitations.

I've seen a few psychiatrists and he was by far my favorite. I've had some bad experiences before so I'm really glad to have met him. He is kind and meets you where you are. He seemed genuinely interested when he asked questions and also very insightful. I saw him via videochat and usually such visits are impersonal, but I didn't feel this way at all with him. I will absolutely continue to see him!

I have had one of the best experiences with Doctor Shukhman. He has special treatment and medicine for his patients and I feel better each time I visit him. If I ever feel down again, I will surely come back to see Doctor Shukhman. Thank you Doctor Shukhman.

This doctor is awful!!!! We were finally able to convince my elderly mother to see a psychiatrist because she suffers from anxiety and mood swings. She was hospitalized last week because she threatened to end her life! We waited for over an hour ( all new office staff; he had just fired the old staff!) This "geriatric" psychiatrist had little patience with my father who was having a very hard time hearing, and had little patience with my mom as well. He ended the appointment early saying that he didn't have the means to help my mother!!!!!!! What the heck does that mean????? Now we have to start all over and this only adds to her anxiety! My mother needed the doctor to help her, and he told her to go find someone else! How's that for being professional! Would never recommend this doctor to anyone!!!!!!!!!

My son was "treated" by this Doctor while he was admitted at Lutheran General hospital. He never examined my son, never read the nurses' notes. My son was in the middle of a manic episode, security was called to sedate my son, yet according to this Dr. my son should have been sent home. All he wanted to do was wash his hands with my son and send him home. He would tell my son he was fine and well enough to be released even though the nurses, my son's Psychiatrist of 4 years and myself kept telling him not to. I finally called a lawyer and complained to the hospital and the hospital called for another doctor's second opinion. His medical license should be removed and he should never be able to treat another person!

Helped me out quite a bit. I am able to function at work and be there for my family now

Dr. Shukman tells you to leave his practice if you encounter a problem that does not fit in with his 15 minute appointment schedule. I saw him for 2 years and thought he was great. When things got difficult he made it clear that he no longer wanted to see me. This was very hurtful and very rejecting. I am doing very well now so he does not have the opportunity to see a patient come through a tough time and triumph. Shame on him for being a fair weather practitioner! Shame on him for not being committed to a patient's health!
