Dr. Mark Andrew Silverman, MD

Dr. Silverman saw me on a 24 hour request as I had my forst episode of diverticulitis. He was outstanding. He explained what not to eat and what I can eat. He placed me on a proper antibiotic dosage and followed up with a phone call to see how I was doing. He is compassionate and understanding.

Dr. Silverman was very unprofessional. I went for a colonoscopy procedure and as I was waking up from the anesthesia he told me that he found 2 polyps. I wasn't even fully awake! He then propped me up all of a sudden to rush me out of the room so he could put his next patient in the room. He never told me that I had unusual shaped polyps and that I should return within a year. My general doctor told me that after he got the results. I will never go back to Dr. Silverman again! Horrible experience.

Came in with fever and massive lower GI pains and a fever that made me unable to stand at night due to the shivers. Stated I was concerned for my immediate health and was considering the ER. Even the staff were surprised that he made me wait over one hour after my appointment, and kept hounding him to see me, to which he grunted in annoyance like I was a chore. In the meantime, I saw 3 patients who arrived after me be received in a timely manner by his partner.Finally examined, if my "examine" you mean no visual examination, just thrusting your gloved finger into my rectum to see how much pain I was in.He confidently told me my fever is most likely unrelated to my pain and that I should come in for a colonscopy the following week. He took no blood work. No urine sample. Didn't even take my temperature. He gave me an RX for hydrocortisone suppositories saying they will "cool" me down until the scopy.They didn't help at all. And I felt increasingly worse after the examination and my… fever kept increasing until I ended up in the ER 2 days later.In the ER I was finally examined properly by a resident and an intern who, within 2 minutes flat, visually identified a massive abscess and put me straight on antibiotics and admitted me in order to prevent a very wide infection. I ended up needing surgery, under general anesthesia, to drain the abscess and in the process they also found a worrying fistula adjacent to it. The surgeon informed me that any harsh physical examination probably traumatized the abscess and that I should have been in the ER days ago. Always, always, always get a second opinion. I thought I did the right thing by finding a board certified doctor, but I should have known from the long wait time that I was not going to be respected as a patient, not for my time, and not for my health.When I entered the ER, I left two messages for Dr. Mark Silverman. He's affiliated with the hospital I went to. I did not get any response until days later. That is when I informed him I was disappointment with my experience with him and he should be ashamed that someone with his experience and resources, could not do in two hours of my time, what a young ER doctor did in 5 minutes.
