Dr. Mark B Slidell, MD

Dr. Slidell performed a port placement surgery for my 2 year old at the beginning of a very intense chemo phase. The surgery went perfectly! The port was so nicely positioned and angled. My son never complains about accessing or de-accessing which has tremendously improved his quality of life and relived our anxiety in his chemo treatment. It helps to keep chemo at the minimum disruption to his childhood and we can’t thank Dr. Slidell enough for his amazing surgical skills!

He went above and beyond to put our daughter first at every visit.

Dr. Slidell is everything that you could ever ask for in a pediatric surgeon. Our daughter needed a procedure at just 2months old. He explained everything and took the time to answer all of our questions which really eased our anxiety. The day of surgery he came to see us before and immediately after the procedure. He is extremely knowledgeable and has the best bedside manner and personality. We cannot thank him enough, it does not get any better than him. Truly amazing!!

Our newborn had a bowel obstruction in utero and was transported to Christ hospital in Oak Lawn when she was born to have surgery since our hospital did not have a pediatric surgeon. We met Dr. Slidell on the way to the OR and exchanged a very friendly but professional conversation briefly before continuing on. My first impression was amazed by how he treated us and our baby like real people rather than another patient. He really cared even though he had never met us before. We talked with him again before he started the surgery and he continued to help ease our nerves and make us feel that she was in the best place. During surgery, his nurse called the waiting room to inform us how things were going, which also helped us since it was almost 3 hours from start to finish. After he finished, he came to talk with us and took 15-20 minutes to explain, draw a picture, answer all of our questions and give advice for future obstacles if they should occur. He was very knowledgeable in his… field. I felt so blessed that we got Dr. Slidell as our surgeon. He truly cared for us and our baby! While our daughter was recovering the remainder of the time in the hospital people on his surgical team would come check on her to see how she was doing, but Dr. Slidell would come as well. And he spent 20-30 minutes talking about our daughter but also had a great personality to talk to about other things that got brought up. I never felt like he was my daughter's surgeon. I felt like he was someone we had known for years. We had a follow up visit about a month later and the same Dr. Slidell was making me feel so happy and thankful for a great experience. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and surgeon given our situation!

On Easter Dr. Slidell did emergency abdominal surgery on my one month old granddaughter. During surgery it was found that her condition was more dire than expected. The surgery was the talk of the hospital the next week. Therefore we feel the success of the surgery was due to Dr. Slidell's expertise. He has checked on her daily. His bedside manner before and after surgery has been wonderful. We definitely want him to do her follow up surgery in about another month,

We extensively researched pediatric surgeons prior to my sons surgery. We were referred to another surgeon downtown, but after making some phone calls, and checking online reviews, we decided to go with Dr Slidell. We are so glad we did. He was a wonderful surgeon. Incredibly thorough, kind, compassionate and everything went beautifully for the surgery. Our son's condition required a number of specialists to carefully coordinate his care plan and Dr Slidell and his team did a wonderful job. We highly recommend him.

A great pediatric surgeon! He took great interest in our son's problem and explained everything to us very patiently. The surgery went great and I couldn't believe how tiny the incisions were and how little pain our son had. His whole team was terrific. Highly recommend him as a pediatric surgeon.

Dr. Slidell was very friendly and approachable when he first met with us prior to our son's surgery. He fully explained what he was going to be doing during the procedure and made sure we understood everything involved with it. He met with us following the surgery and checked back in with us the next day. Even a few weeks later during the follow-up appointment, he was genuinely interested in our son's recovery and remembered us from the time we spent at Comer. We highly recommend Dr. Slidell!
