Dr. Mark Allan Smith, MD

As a young African-American woman, I had a very troubling and unprofessional experience with Dr. Mark Allan Smith. During my first appointment, I felt dismissed and unheard. He barely listened to my concerns and simply sent me on my way. Unfortunately, my health has worsened since that visit. Despite my discomfort, I gave him a second chance. Before the appointment, I told the nurse I preferred to see a different doctor, but Dr. Smith still came in. His demeanor was immediately aggressive—he didn’t greet or acknowledge me. I had to initiate the conversation. When I tried to explain my concerns, he cut me off and accused me of refusing his help. Before I could finish speaking, he raised his voice and shouted, “DO YOU WANT MY HELP WITH ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION OR NOT?” I was stunned. I came seeking help for my mental health, and instead I was met with hostility. He even laughed at my problems, which was deeply hurtful and unprofessional. At this point, I no longer feel safe having him… as my doctor or having him prescribe me anything. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Smith to anyone—especially if you are African-American or a woman. His behavior was inappropriate, dismissive, and entirely unacceptable for a healthcare provider.

I do not think he should be called MD, not friendly, doesn't talk to patient, does care about your health except suggesting a diet and execrice but the main health problem you're having he won't ask you anything, in my opinion because of lack of knowledge. I won't recommand this person to anyone.

No follow up scheduled at this point (no need). I thought Dr. Smith was very good at explaining the injury, how the healing would take place and what I could do to help. The process of diagnosis, including x-rays, was very efficient.
