Dr. Mark Phillip Stesin, MD

Dr.Stesin for the most part has been a good doctor to me. He is up to trying new things, occasionally has options to choose from and for the most part doesn't rush. Although most of my thyroid labs could be discussed over the phone. His office system is extremely outdated and there is no way to talk to him or get him a message without going through his extremely rude staff. If it wasn't so difficult to find a good endocrinologist I would have left after my first appointment. I have an appointment coming up and I'm going to ask him if he's ever read the reviews on his clinic. Especially the comments on his staff. I have tried to get a hold of him for the last few days but his staff refuses to pass a message on to him. They are very rude and interrupt me when I'm trying to explain why I need to talk to him before my appointment.

I have visited Dr. Stesin for my diabetes care on and off for 15 years. His office is inconvenient for me. However, after seeing several endocrinologists I am returning to his practice because I feel he is the best doctor I have seen. He listens respectfully to your concerns, explains his treatment plan and politely escorts you to the desk to make next appointment. After trying other endocrinologists I have come to the conclusion he is simply worth the extra time and drive. I, too, have experienced office staff that are unpleasant at his clinic, however I believe he is a dr you can trust, which is difficult to find nowadays.

sounds like the DR. I want to see, but reviews on his office staff are keeping me away...Why is that person still working there if many are complaining??

Dr. Stesin is a very knowledgeable with the subject matter in which he is able to help patients with endocrine problems such as thyroid issues (such in my case). The issue is the front desk lady who is very rude rather it be on the phone with other patients, standing in front of her trying to schedule an appointment, confirming a scheduled appointment on arrival, or simply asking questions that should be directed to Dr. Stesin in which I prefer to hear from him rather than her profound voice of attitude. Additionally, I noticed the other staff seem to be displeased; thus, wondering if they themselves are happy with their jobs and has a profound impression of how they perform with patient care capabilities which seems to go on a down ward spiral of "unmatched care." When I am told to get labs done prior to the appointment and have to come in for a 5 minute read out of the results seems to be a waste of time when I am told that nothing has changed every time I schedule a 6 month visit.… I understand making sure the TSH levels are met by the medication prescribed by Dr. Stesin is necessary, but once there is enough data showing a satisfaction of thyroid levels being in a acceptable range, don't make patients come in just to hear "labs results are great or no change." Patients should be requested to come in if there changes occurring from previous visits. Furthermore, the clinic should be communicating via "MyChart" since the intended purpose was to communicate with doctors if anything or questions arise. Appointments are expensive as it is especially when seeing a specialist; therefore, the clinic should have more compassion and understanding of people who are on fixed income and use their HSA resources wisely. Seeing an Endocrinologist is like searching for a needle in haystack; consequently, since unforeseen events happen in people lives, I have been unable to find and make an appointment with endocrinologist since they are booked months in advance because of health insurance changes which resulted in two months thus far with out my medication. This clinic location is at North Memorial Health Care on the 4th floor in the Oak Dale Medical Building across from the hospital.

I didn't go back after about 4 visits. I wish Dr. Stesin employed different staff. If so, I'd still be with him. I am dismayed with his nurse Kathy and the office staff relaying any information to him that I called in. I had concerns with serious stomach aches and his nurse would not return my call for 4 days. I was told by her she prioritizes her call backs. I then went to see my gastroenterologist. He thought I might have Pancreatitis. He ordered testing. That's serious. Kathy his nurse was disrespectful toward me and truly projected an attitude of superiority.

if you are looking for thyroid related help, save yourself the time, expense and frustration of seeing him. Dr Stesin, you're fired!

I can not express how fortunate I am to have been connected to Dr. Stesin. Since my first visit with him 8 months ago, he has helped correct an medical problem that others had only made worse with their treatment. He took the time to listen to my concerns and was excellent about making sure I understood the treatment and any concerns I should have.In addition, Dr. Stesin has taken interest in other medical conditions I have been troubled with. He listened to my problems and genuinely cared that I get the best outcome. He asked about how I felt about my current treatments from other physicians and how the treatments were going.On two separate occasions where I was frustrated with my current care from other physicians he had made suggestions of alternative doctors I could see if I wanted and called them personally so that I could be seen by them when their schedules did not allow for appointments for months. In both cases, my scheduled appointments went from being no less than two and… half months out to merely two weeks out.I can sum up my experience with him quite simply. He cares. He does not only interest himself with his specific task at had, but cares about how I am doing as a whole. He has gone WAY beyond his necessary scope to insure I am ok and healthy. He has a genuine interest in my health. I have found that to be a more rare occurrence in todays health care.I can not recommend him enough. You would be lucky to be under his care.

I have been with this doc for years now. He is the first doctor that actually sits down, asks me things, and listens to my answers, he encourages me, he is proud of me when i do well, he is smart knowledgable and a top doctor for a reason. He is my favorite doctor and not at all full of himself and too busy for a patient like most are.......A+ in my book

I thought Dr. Stesin was great at first. He tried things other doctors wouldn't and based his treatment on the symptoms I reported more than the outdated blood testing available. However, his nurse doesn't smile and seemed intimidating. And after awhile, my symptoms changed, and I couldn't get anyone on the staff to listen. They even threatened to decrease my dosage when I explained why I believed an increase might be required. I ended up crying and changing doctors. I also explained some alternative therapies I was trying, and Dr. Stesin laughed at me. That was the last straw. If he had been able to successfully treat me, maybe I wouldn't have had to turn to other therapies that may seem silly.

Dr Stesin is great. Very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He will spend all the time you need answering your questions. The office staff on the other hand is rude, never smiles and is short on communication. I didn't have my co-pay but my wife who was parking the car when I arrived did. I told them she would be right up and pay it, and they did not want to treat me until the $40 co-pay arrived. I guess they though I was lying about my wife coming right up?
